Objective: This study aimed to examine the association between lifestyle behaviors and body mass index (BMI) along with their potential interactions with the severity of blood pressure (BP) classifications among older adults with hypertension.

Methods: Among 17,441 participants, lifestyle behaviors were assessed, including smoking, drinking, dietary patterns, physical activity, and sleeping. Multinomial logistic regression was used to examine the association between lifestyle behaviors and BMI with BP classifications, and multiplicative interactions were included to estimate potential interactions.

Tandem CO reduction with carbonylation reactions represents a promising approach to convert greenhouse gases into valuable chemicals. Herein, we propose a universal "N/O mixed pre-coordination pyrolysis" strategy to construct vacancy-defect single atom catalysts (Ni-, Mn-, Fe-, Co-, and Cu-NC) with M-N coordination microenvironment. This vacancy-defect endows Ni-NC with excellent performance for CO electroreduction, achieving a CO faradaic efficiency exceeding 90% across a wide range of current densities up to 300 mA cm.

Solar-driven CO reduction for practical applications confronts significant challenges, including the waste of oxidation power and the difficulty in isolating reduction products. Herein, a pre-coordination restriction strategy is presented to hierarchically assemble CdS quantum dots (QDs), cobalt sites and Zr clusters in one metal-organic framework (MOF), resulting in the CdS@PCN-Co composite for simultaneous CO photoreduction and C-C coupling. Impressively, the yields of CO and pinacols with CdS@PCN-Co can reach 59.

Purpose: Although adrenal vein sampling (AVS) is the standard method for subtype diagnosis in patients with primary aldosteronism (PA), the methods used to sample the adrenal vein are not standardized. The aim of this study was to establish the optimal method for sampling the adrenal vein based on the pathological findings after surgery for PA.

Methods: We enrolled 168 consecutive patients who were diagnosed to have PA and underwent AVS at our institution between 2019 and 2023.

Background: The blood pressure control status and its influencing factors in elderly patients with essential hypertension are complex. Existing studies often overlook spatial differences or utilize coarse spatial scales, which limits the understanding of the fine patterns of spatial heterogeneity and the design and implementation of further prevention and control policies.

Methods: In August 2023, A community-based survey was carried out in Jia County, China, involving a total of 19080 patients over 65 years old.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the social distancing has significantly affected the healthy lifestyle behaviors of residents. China ended social distancing on January 8, 2023, and the healthy lifestyle behaviors of residents after this time are unclear. The goal of this study was to evaluate the differences in healthy lifestyle behaviors between Chinese urban and rural residency after the termination of social distancing.

Effective hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) under high current density and enhanced hydrogen oxidation reaction (HOR) over a wide potential range remain challenges for Ru-based electrocatalysts because its strong affinity to the adsorbed hydroxyl (OH) inhibits the supply of the adsorbed hydrogen (H). Herein, the coexisting Ru─O─Ti and Ru─Ti bonds are constructed by taking TiO crystal confined flat-Ru clusters (F-Ru@TiO) to cope with above-mentioned obstacles. The different electronegativity (χ = 1.

Dysregulation of cholesterol metabolism underlies neurodegenerative disease and is increasingly implicated in neuroinflammatory diseases, such as multiple sclerosis (MS). Cytochrome P450 family 7 subfamily B member 1 (CYP7B1) is a key enzyme in alternative cholesterol metabolism. A recessive mutation in the gene CYP7B1 is known to cause a neurodegenerative disease, hereditary spastic paraplegia type 5 and oxysterol accumulation.

Article Synopsis
  • The optimization of oxygen adsorption on platinum sites in Pt-based electrocatalysts is important for enhancing the oxygen reduction reaction.
  • Current research mainly targets modifications to the electrocatalyst structure, but the impact of solvents at phase interfaces is often ignored.
  • A new electrocatalyst made of an ordered PtCo alloy on Co single-atoms/clusters, optimized with a hydrophobic ionic liquid, demonstrates superior catalytic performance and stability compared to commercial Pt/C.

This study aimed to evaluate how the duration of travel affects the behavior of urban and rural residents regarding free COVID-19 vaccination, and provide scientific evidence for promoting free vaccination and building an immune barrier to cope with future epidemics. From August 3, 2022 to February,18,2023, A follow-up survey was conducted in urban and rural adults in four cities in China to collect information on socio-demographic factors, vaccination status and travel time for vaccination. Propensity score matching (PSM) analysis was deployed to measure the net difference of the enhanced vaccination rate between urban and rural residents in different traffic time distribution.

Background: Healthy lifestyle behaviors (LBs) have been widely recommended for the prevention and management of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Despite a large number of studies exploring the association between combined LBs and CVD, a notable gap exists in integration of relevant literatures. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies to analyze the correlation between combined LBs and the occurrence of CVD, as well as to estimate the risk of various health complications in individuals already diagnosed with CVD.

Background: Health literacy measurement lays a solid foundation to identify associations with health outcomes and monitor population health literacy levels over time. In mainland China, most existing health literacy instruments are either knowledge-based or practice-based, making health literacy results incomparable between China and other countries. This study aimed to examine the reliability and validity of the 12-item Health Literacy Population Survey (HLS-Q12) in a general population of Chinese adults.

Excessive immune activation contributes to the onset of early dysfunction of the maternal-fetal interface, and it is closely linked to the development of pre-eclampsia. However, the effect of specific immune cells on the risk of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia remains controversial. We investigated the causal relationship between immune cells and pre-eclampsia and eclampsia.

The sensitizing ability of a catalytic system is closely related to the visible-light absorption ability, excited-state lifetime, redox potential, and electron-transfer rate of photosensitizers (PSs), however it remains a great challenge to concurrently mediate these factors to boost CO photoreduction. Herein, a series of Ir(III)-based PSs (Ir-1-Ir-6) were prepared as molecular platforms to understand the interplay of these factors and identify the primary factors for efficient CO photoreduction. Among them, less efficient visible-light absorption capacity results in lower CO yields of Ir-1, Ir-2 or Ir-4.

Background: Genetic risk factors substantially contributed to the development of coronary atherosclerosis. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) has identified many risk loci for coronary atherosclerosis, but the translation of these loci into therapeutic targets is limited for their location in non-coding regions. Here, we aimed to screen the potential coronary atherosclerosis pathogenic genes expressed though TWAS (transcriptome wide association study) and explore the underlying mechanism association.
