Purpose: Drug resistance presents an ever-increasing global public health threat that involves all major microbial pathogens and antimicrobial drugs. Strains that are resistant to multiple drugs pose severe clinical problems and cost lives. However, systematic studies on cross-resistance of have been missing.

Residents play an important role as one of the main actors in food safety governance. To build a pattern of food safety risk co-governance, the positive and effective participation of residents is vital. This study first establishes a comprehensive analysis framework combining social capital theory and political efficacy theory.

In this study, we tested whether obesity-associated endotoxin release induced activation-induced cytidine deaminase (AID). TLR4 activation in turn caused c-JUN-dependent and STAT3-dependent translocations of MYC loci to suppress transactivation of CD95/FAS.

This study elucidates the origins of site-selectivity of the transformation, which is controlled by the generation of a hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) agent by a photocatalyst and bromide ions in solution. Tetrabutylammonium bromide was identified as a crucial additive and source of a potent HAT agent, which led to increases in yields and a lowering of the stoichiometries of the aryl bromide coupling partner.

Here, we present the case of a patient with recurrent ovarian clear cell carcinoma (OCCC) who failed to respond to multiline chemotherapy and target therapy but achieved an immune complete response (iCR) with programmed cell death 1 (PD-1) inhibitor treatment. The overall survival (OS) was 59 months, and the recurrence-free survival (RFS) was 34 months after immunotherapy, which was counting.

Methods: A total of 426 LARC patients, treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy followed by total mesorectal excision, between January 2010 and December 2018, were studied retrospectively. Patients were divided into induction and consolidation chemotherapy groups.

The vortex beams carried Orbital Angular Momentum (OAM) have recently generated considerable interest due to their potential used in communication systems to increase transmission capacity and spectral efficiency. In this paper, the distorted wavefront detection based on Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor (HWS) for the vortex beams is investigated. The detection slope of the helical phase sub-spot pattern is used as the calibrated slope zero point, and then the distortion phase of the vortex beam is detected by the HWS.

Objectives: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is a common otology emergency in the practice. Its severe hearing impairment and prognosis impair the quality of life. Given that cochlear hair cell vulnerability is not consistent across frequencies, this study aims to investigate the impact of frequency-specific hearing loss on prognosis in SSNHL.

Neurons can exhibit abundant electrical activities due to physical effects of various electrophysiology environments. The electromagnetic induction flows can be triggered by changes in neuron membrane potential, which can be equivalent to a memristor applying on membrane potential. To imitate the electromagnetic induction effects, we propose a three-variable memristor-based Wilson neuron model.

Transcription factors (TFs) play critical roles in hematopoiesis, and their aberrant expression can lead to various types of leukemia. The t(8;21) leukemogenic fusion protein AML1-ETO (AE) is the most common fusion protein in acute myeloid leukemia and can enhance hematopoietic stem cell renewal while blocking differentiation. A key question in understanding AE-mediated leukemia is what determines the choice of AE to activate self-renewal genes or repress differentiation genes.

The initiation and progression of cancer depend on the genetic alterations inherent in cancer cells, coupled with the mutual interplay of cancer cells with the surrounding tumor stroma. The platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) family, as a mesenchymal growth factor, was involved in tumor progression by affecting the surrounding tumor stroma in some cancer types. However, the association of the PDGF family with the ovarian cancer stroma remains elusive.

To identify novel miR-mRNA pairs, we performed RNA-seq from atrial biopsies of persistent AF patients and non-AF patients with normal sinus rhythm (SR). Differentially expressed miRs (11 down and 9 up) and mRNAs (95 up and 82 down) were identified and hierarchically clustered in a heat map.

Introduction: The aim of this study is to explore the efficacy and renal safety of febuxostat in gout and stage 2-4 chronic kidney disease (CKD) and factors that correlated with target serum urate (SU).
Methods: A single-center retrospective study including male patients with gout and CKD was conducted. SU, the rate of SU < 360 µmol/L (RAT), and renal safety were analyzed in subjects who received febuxostat over 44 weeks.
Background: Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) are essential components of the tumor microenvironment (TME). These cells play a supportive role throughout cancer progression. Their ability to modulate the immune system has also been noted.

The pivotal tryptophan (TRP) metabolite kynurenine is converted to several neuroactive compounds, including kynurenic acid (KYNA), which is elevated in the brain and cerebrospinal fluid of people with schizophrenia (SZ) and may contribute to cognitive abnormalities in patients. A small proportion of TRP is metabolized to serotonin and further to 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA). Notably, KP metabolism is readily affected by immune stimulation.

Here, using a mouse model of radiotherapy-induced myelosuppression, we show that inorganic phosphate (Pi) metabolism is acutely inhibited in hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) during irradiation-induced myelosuppression, and closely correlated with the severity and prognosis of myelosuppression. Mechanistically, the acute Pi metabolic inhibition in HSCs results from extrinsic Pi loss in the bone marrow niche and the intrinsic transcriptional suppression of soluble carrier family 20 member 1 (SLC20A1)-mediated Pi uptake by p53.

Airborne fungi can pose serious health concerns in humans; however, the area-specific abundance and composition of airborne fungal microbiota discharged from composting facilities remain unclear. In the present study, we collected air samples from composting, packaging, office, and downwind areas of four commercial composting facilities. The characteristics of airborne fungi, including pathogen/allergen-containing genera, and their corresponding human exposure in different areas of composting facilities were analyzed using high-throughput sequencing and ddPCR.

Methods: The clinical data of 20 patients with oral and maxillofacial malignant tumors treated with peroneal artery perforator flap between October 2020 and December 2021 were retrospectively analysed. There were 13 males and 7 females, with an average age of 56.
With the identification of huge amount of noncoding RNAs in recent years, the concept of RNA localization has extended from traditional mRNA export to RNA export of mRNA and ncRNA as well as nuclear retention of ncRNA. This review aims to summarize the recent findings from studies on the mechanisms of export of different RNAs and nuclear retention of some lncRNAs in higher eukaryotes, with a focus on splicing-dependent TREX recruitment for the export of spliced mRNA and the sequence-dependent mechanism of mRNA export in the absence of splicing. In addition, evidence to support the involvement of m A modification in RNA export with the coordination between the methylase complex and TREX complex as well as sequence-dependent nuclear retention of lncRNA is recapitulated.

Despite government investment, policy guidance, and publicity, it has been difficult to establish a traceable food market in China over the past 2 decades. Once a food safety problem occurs, it is difficult to implement effective traceability, recall, and accountability along the food supply chain. How to use the decoy effect to promote the development of China traceable food market? As bounded rationality, a decoy effect exists when adding an alternative to a choice set increases the chance an existing alternative to be chosen.
