Sheehan's syndrome is a disorder caused by ischemic necrosis of the pituitary gland following postpartum hemorrhage, typically resulting in pituitary dysfunction that can affect the adrenal, thyroid, and gonadal axes. Clinically, patients may present with dysfunction of a single axis or multiple axes. The co-occurrence of Sheehan's syndrome and Graves' disease is extremely rare, posing a significant diagnostic challenge.

Objective: Previous studies have found that the relationship between metabolic indicators and Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT) in non-diabetic adults remains unclear. This study aims to explore the association between metabolic indicators and HT, providing new theoretical insights for the clinical management of HT.

Methods: Clinical data were collected from 2,015 non-diabetic adults at Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine.

Objective: The prevalence of osteoporosis and its resultant healthcare challenges are escalating, posing significant burdens on public health systems. Studies have introduced immunoinflammatory indices, which are recognized for effectively reflecting the systemic immunoinflammatory status. Despite their potential, the exploration of these indices in the context of osteoporosis remains limited.

Objective: This study aims to explore the correlation between patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and food intolerance.

Methods: A total of 172 subjects who visited Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between January 2020 and March 2023 were selected and tested for 90 food-specific IgG antibodies. The study group composed 85 individuals diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis, while the control group consisted of 87 healthy individuals.

Objectives: In China, osteoporosis has become a major health concern among elderly population, imposing significant burden on the country's social and economic systems. The monocyte to high-density lipoprotein ratio (MHR) has been currently recommended as a novel marker of inflammation and oxidative stress associated with osteoporosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, its reliability in non-diabetic elderly populations remains unclear.

Background: Recent studies indicate that circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been implicated in the initiation or progression of a wide spectrum of diseases. In the current study, we explored the potential engagement of circ_0008285 in glioma and investigated the downstream regulators.

Methods: The detection of circ_0008285 level in glioma specimens and cell lines was conducted by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction.

Article Synopsis
  • Parkinson's disease (PD) is linked to an imbalance of immune cells, specifically an increase in Th17 cells and a decrease in regulatory T cells (Tregs), which is correlated with the loss of dopaminergic neurons and motor symptoms in patients.
  • Research showed that the presence of alpha-Synuclein (α-Syn) drives changes in Tregs, leading to their dysfunction and promoting Th17 cell differentiation, which further contributes to the pathology of PD.
  • Inhibiting the transcription factor RORγt can counteract the adverse effects caused by α-Syn stimulation, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for restoring immune balance and protecting dopaminergic neurons in PD.

Purpose: At present, whether bariatric surgery before total knee arthroplasty (TKA) affects the prognosis of subsequent TKA has been a topic of debate in the academic community. The primary purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to investigate the effect of previous bariatric surgery on prosthetic revisions and postoperative complications after TKA.

Methods: We included prospective and observational studies published in English involving patients who had undergone bariatric surgery prior to TKA and compared them with morbidly obese patients with no history of bariatric surgery.

In the context of the transitioning economy of the United Arab Emirates, which demands inculcating innovative behavior in public employees, this study investigates the relationship between high-involvement work practices and leaders' collaborative nature with employees' innovative behavior. Drawing on the social exchange and ability-motivation-opportunity theories, this research expounds the mediating effect of employees' wellbeing to examine the mechanisms through which high-involvement work practices and public leaders' collaborative nature affect employees' innovative behavior in public organisations. Using three-wave data from 207 individuals in public service organisations, this study tests the effects of employees' perceptions of high-involvement work practices and leaders' collaborative nature on their wellbeing and innovative work behaviors.

Article Synopsis
  • Parkinson's disease (PD) is linked to impaired mitochondrial function, leading to increased aerobic glycolysis and lactate production in dopaminergic neurons, which may contribute to neuron apoptosis.
  • Researchers discovered elevated levels of key glycolysis enzymes (HK2 and LDH) and lactate in a mouse model of PD and human dopaminergic cells, with exogenous lactate promoting cell death.
  • Inhibition of HK2 via 3-bromopyruvic acid reduced lactate levels and neuron apoptosis, while improving motor behavior in PD mice, suggesting potential therapeutic targets through glycolysis regulation.

To systemically evaluate the benefits and side effects of Shensong Yangxin Capsules( SYC) in the adjuvant treatment of stable angina pectoris( SAP). Chinese and English databases( PubMed,EMbase, the Cochrane Library,CBM,CNKI,VIP,Wan Fang database) were retrieved to collect the randomized controlled trials( RCTs) about therapeutic efficacy of SYC combined with routine drug( trial group) vs routine drug( control group) in the treatment of SAP. The methodological quality of the RCTs was evaluated based on the cochrane risk of bias assessment tool.
