Study DesignRetrospective cohort study.ObjectiveCondoliase is a chemonucleolysis for lumbar disc herniation (LDH) that enzymatically degrades herniated disc material with high specificity for chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid. Few studies have compared condoliase treatment with surgical treatments.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of preoperative nutritional status, assessed using the Prognostic Nutritional Index (PNI), on clinical outcomes, including survival prognosis, postoperative complications, hospitalization duration, and functional prognosis, in patients with metastatic spinal tumors undergoing surgery.
Summary Of Background Data: Malnutrition is common in patients with cancer and is associated with poor clinical outcomes.
Purpose: To identify risk factors for cement leakage (CL) in spinal fusion surgery using cement-augmented fenestrated pedicle screw (CAFPS). As a secondary objective, clinical outcomes were compared between CAFPS and conventional pedicle screw (CPS) in patients with osteoporosis.
Methods: We included 67 patients (272 screws) who underwent spinal fusion surgery with CAFPS and 104 patients with CPS.
Objective: Osteoporosis is a well-known risk factor for incident vertebral fractures (VFs) and postoperative mechanical complications. However, the specific Hounsfield unit (HU) and vertebral bone quality (VBQ) cutoff values for predicting these complications, as well as the diagnostic and clinical significance of the differences between these two measurements, remain unclear. This study sought to evaluate the predictive value of HU and VBQ scores and to establish specific cutoff points for osteoporosis-related complications in lumbar spine surgery.

To prevent such fractures in patients with cervical disease, treating osteoporosis is an important strategy. This study aimed to validate the diagnostic yield of a deep learning algorithm for detecting osteopenia/osteoporosis using cervical radiography and compare its diagnostic accuracy with that of spine surgeons.

Although surgical interventions are effective, they have high complication rates and medical costs. Furthermore, there is a lack of evidence supporting the effectiveness of nonsurgical treatments (e.

Although it is an effective and relatively safe treatment for radicular neuropathy in patients with LDH, there have been no reports that investigate how severe low back pain (LBP) changes after condoliase injection. In this multicenter study, the effectiveness of condoliase injection for reducing severe LBP in patients with LDH was evaluated.

Despite advances in surgery, high complication rates and the economic burden highlight the need for effective non-surgical treatments. This study assesses the "Koshimagari Exercise," a self-exercise program for ASD patients, and aims to develop a classification system to identify those who would benefit most.

Objective: To investigate risk factors for 3-month postoperative mortality in metastatic spinal tumor surgery, focusing on nutritional biomarkers and prognostic scores alongside clinical indicators.
Summary Of Background Data: Metastatic spinal tumors affect patient morbidity and mortality.

Study Design: Retrospective analysis of data collected across multiple centers.
Objective: To develop machine learning models for predicting neurological outcomes one month postoperatively in patients with metastatic spinal tumors undergoing surgery, and to identify key factors influencing neurological recovery.
Summary Of Background Data: The increasing prevalence of spinal metastases has led to a growing need for surgical intervention to address mechanical instability and neurological deficits.
Introduction: The risk factors for the development of progressive segment degeneration (PSD) after decompression surgery are still unknown. In this study, the risk factors for PSD in patients who undergo decompression surgery for lumbar spinal stenosis with and without coexisting spondylolisthesis and scoliosis were examined, focusing on decompression and non-decompression segments.
Methods: We reviewed the data of patients with >5 years of postoperative follow up.

Introduction: Sacral perineural cysts are rarely symptomatic; however, they may occasionally cause various symptoms. As the patient exhibits multiple cysts, it often becomes difficult to determine if these cysts are symptomatic.
Technical Note: Six patients with multiple sacral cysts, identified using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), were further examined using myelography and computed tomography (CT) immediately and 6-18 h after myelography.
Purpose: Cervical spine injuries in the elderly (defined as individuals aged 65 years and older) are increasing, often resulting from falls and minor trauma. Prognosis varies widely, influenced by multiple factors. This study aimed to develop a deep-learning-based predictive model for post-injury outcomes.

Guidelines recommend considering the balance between thrombotic and bleeding risks.

We postulated that the surgical outcomes of open-door laminoplasty with instrumentation of every second opened level (skip-fixation) might not be inferior to those of laminoplasty with instrumentation of every opened level (all-fixation). The purpose of the present study was to test the noninferiority of laminoplasty with skip-fixation in improving myelopathy at 2 years postoperatively compared with all-fixation.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of using cement-augmented pedicle screw (CAPS) fixation only for the cephalad and caudal vertebral bodies.
Summary Of Background Data: Pedicle screw fixation is less effective in patients with low-quality bone.
Background Context: The effect of romosozumab administration in patients undergoing corrective spinal fusion surgery has not yet been analyzed.
Purpose: To examine the effect of romosozumab administration on reducing the incidence of proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK), particularly PJK due to fractures (PJK-Fx), in patients undergoing spinal corrective fusion surgery.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Introduction: Preoperative estimations of blood loss are important when planning surgery for cervical spine injuries in older adults. The association between ankylosis and blood loss in perioperative management is of particular interest. This multicenter database review aimed to evaluate the impact of ankylosis on surgical blood loss volume in elderly patients with cervical spine injury.

This study assessed MCIDs of JOABPEQ in patients with lumbar spine disease by generation.
Methods: We evaluated the JOABPEQ score of 805 consecutive patients with lumbar spine disease undergoing posterior surgery preoperatively and 1 year postoperatively.
Combustible cigarette and heated tobacco products (HTPs), the two most frequently used tobacco products, negatively affect bone healing. However, whether smoking cessation following fracture benefits bone healing is unclear. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of smoking cessation immediately after surgery on reduced fracture healing induced by smoking.

However, improvement in back pain (BP) is poor in some patients, also previous reports have not elucidated the exact incidence and risk factors for residual BP after BKP. We clarified the characteristics of residual BP after BKP in patients with OVF.
