Background: The objective of this study is to establish and validate models that can accurately predict postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) in women with placenta previa totalis prior to undertaking cesarean delivery.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted on 306 pregnancies with placenta previa totalis delivered between January 2011 and June 2022. The pregnancies were classified into two groups, PPH group and non-PPH group, based on bleeding volume and red blood cell transfusion.

Although reduced mortality associated with moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) has been reported among cancer survivors, the benefits of a concentrated PA pattern remain unclear. This prospective cohort study included 6,075 cancer survivors from the UK Biobank accelerometry dataset: 2,390 (39.3%) were inactive (< 150 minutes/week), 1,295 (21.

Background: Trend analysis in infection-related malignancy of the liver is still limited. We aimed to evaluate the incidence trend in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (iCCA), combined hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CCA), and primary hepatic lymphoma (PHL) in the USA during 2000-2019.

Method: In this population-level study, cases of HCC, iCCA, cHCC-CCA, and PHL from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) registries during 2000-2019 were included.

Objective: We aimed to assess the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) in preventing hypertensive pregnancy disorders (HPD) among women with recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA).

Study Design: This retrospective cohort study included 462 pregnant women with RSA. Inverse probability of treatment weighting (IPTW) and propensity score matching (PSM) were used to balance baseline characteristics between HCQ and non-HCQ groups.

Predicting recurrence among early-stage hormone receptor-positive human epidermal growth factor receptor-negative breast cancer (HR+/HER2- BC) is crucial for guiding adjuvant therapy. However, studies are limited for patients with low recurrence risk. HR+/HER2- early-stage (T1-2N0-1) invasive BC patients who received definitive surgery and followed by endocrine therapy from four independent medical centers were included in this retrospective study.

Objectives: The study aimed to identify factors influencing the severity of primary immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) during pregnancy, develop a predictive model for treatment response, and report maternal and neonatal outcomes associated with severe ITP.

Design: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 155 pregnancies with severe ITP between January 2018 and April 2023 at a tertiary critical maternity referral center in Shanghai, China. Participants/Materials: The study included 155 pregnancies diagnosed with severe ITP, divided into groups based on the lowest platelet count (<30 × 109/L vs.

Although several previous studies have used resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor imaging to report topological changes in the brain in epilepsy, it remains unclear whether the individual structural covariance network (SCN) changes in epilepsy, especially in pediatric epilepsy with visual cortex resection but with normal functions. Herein, individual SCNs were mapped and analyzed for seven pediatric patients with epilepsy after surgery and 15 age-matched healthy controls. A whole-brain individual SCN was constructed based on an automated anatomical labeling template, and global and nodal network metrics were calculated for statistical analyses.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an age-related neurodegenerative disease with amyloid-β (Aβ) deposition as the main pathological feature. It's an important challenge to find new ways to clear Aβ from the brain. The soluble amyloid precursor protein α (sAPPα) is a neuroprotective protein and can attenuate neuronal damage, including toxic Aβ.

Soluble starch (SS) could significantly accelerate the process of bovine serum albumin (BSA) cold-set gelation by glucono-δ-lactone (GDL) and microbial transglutaminase (MTGase) coupling inducers, and enhance the mechanical properties. Hardness, WHC, loss modulus (G″) and storage modulus (G') of the gel increased significantly, along with the addition of SS, and gelation time was also shortened from 41 min (SS free) to 9 min (containing 4.0% SS); the microstructure also became more and more dense.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to determine the stage-specific incidence trend of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) among US adults.

Methods: The age-adjusted incidence rate was extracted from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database for localized, regional, and distant HCC. Trend analyses were conducted in the overall population and stratified by demographic and sociodemographic variables.

Background: Cervical adenocarcinoma (CA) is the second most prevalent histological subtype of cervical cancer, following cervical squamous cell carcinoma (CSCC). As stated in the guidelines provided by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, they are staged and treated similarly. However, compared with CSCC patients, CA patients are more prone to lymph node metastasis and recurrence with a poorer prognosis.

To evaluate excess deaths of gastrointestinal, liver, and pancreatic diseases in the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic. We retrieved weekly death counts from National Vital Statistics System and fitted them with a quasi-Poisson regression model. Cause-specific excess deaths were calculated by the difference between observed and expected deaths with adjustment for temporal trend and seasonality.

Reliable biomarkers are in need to predict the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Whilst recent evidence has established the critical role of copper homeostasis in tumor growth and progression, no previous studies have dealt with the copper-related genes (CRGs) signature with prognostic potential in HCC. To develop and validate a CRGs prognostic signature for HCC, we retrospectively included 353 and 142 patients as the development and validation cohort, respectively.

Background: COVID-19 pandemic has indirect impacts on patients with chronic medical conditions, which may increase mortality risks for various non-COVID-19 causes. This study updates excess death statistics for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD) up to 2022 and evaluates their demographic and spatial disparities in the USA.

Methods: This is an ecological time-series analysis of AD and PD mortality in the USA from January 2018 to March 2022.

Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate the feasibility of texture analysis in differentiating between posterior fossa ependymoma type A (PF-EPN-A) and type B (PF-EPN-B) among children.

Materials And Methods: Our retrospective study included 43 patients (37 PF-EPN-A and 6 PF-EPN-B) who were pathologically diagnosed with ependymomas in the posterior fossa. The texture features were extracted automatically from the volume of interests (VOIs), which were manually delineated on fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR), contrast-enhanced T1-weighted (T1C), and diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) MRI sequences.
