Microsatellite instability (MSI) is a hallmark of colorectal cancer in immunotherapy, whose phenotypes mainly involve four mismatch repair (MMR) proteins (MlH1, MSH2, MSH6 and PMS2). Since these MMR proteins are highly interdependent, simultaneous detection of these proteins rather than separate detection in cancer is vital to accurately distinguish the MSI phenotypes. In this study, we fabricated four orthogonal gap-enhanced Raman tag (O-GERT) flavors with high sensitivity, superb photostability, and completely separated interference-free signal readouts.

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in the environment have the characteristics of persistence, bioaccumulation, teratogenicity, carcinogenicity, and mutagenicity. Long-term exposure of low-content POPs will also have a certain impact on marine ecosystems and human beings. The contents of three typical persistent organic pollutants[polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), organochlorine pesticides (OCPs), and polycyclic biphenyls (PCBs)] of surface sediments were analyzed using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to assess the pollution characteristics of persistent organic pollutants in Boao coastal waters.

Nitrogen (N) loss by surface runoff inevitably results in severe N pollution and eutrophication of aquatic ecosystems. In this study, surface runoff from different land uses in the East Tiaoxi River watershed was collected, and the N concentrations, sources and losses were measured using the dual isotope (δN-NO and δO-NO), a Bayesian isotopic mixing (SIAR) model and Soil Conservation Service Curve Number (SCS-CN) method. The results showed that the N concentrations in surface runoff from agricultural lands were higher than those from urban areas and forestlands, and nitrate (NO), particulate nitrogen (PN) and dissolved organic nitrogen (DON) were the major forms of N in surface runoff in the East Tiaoxi River watershed.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on understanding the outcomes of patients undergoing extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) transport, which has a high hospital mortality rate.
  • - Researchers analyzed data from 126 ECMO patients transferred to a major hospital, finding a significant rate of complications (40.5%) during transport, but no deaths occurred while in transit.
  • - Key findings indicated that higher SOFA scores and lactate levels were linked to higher ICU mortality, with low MAP post-transport also being a potential predictive factor for worse outcomes.

Firstly it should be made clear that implementation of source total load control for the first type of pollutants is necessary for environmental pollution control legislation and economic structure regulation. This kind of surveillance method has been more practical to be implemented since the Manual of the Industry Discharge Coefficient of First National Pollution Sources Investigation was published. The source total load control and water environment total load control are independent of each other and none of them is redundant, on the other side they can be complementary to each other.
