In this study, an investigation on using polyurethane/graphene oxide (PU/GO) containing disulfide bonds as a modifier to improve the self-healing ability of asphalt was conducted. PU/GO with different GO contents were synthesized and modified asphalt with different PU/GO dosages (2%, 4%, 6%, 8%) were also prepared. The effect of GO contents on the mechanical and self-healing properties of PU/GO was explored and the impacts of PU/GO contents on the basic properties and self-healing properties of asphalt were also investigated.

A photoredox catalytic cascade radical reaction for the addition/cyclization of arylalkynoates with α-bromoketones in water at room temperature has been developed, offering a green and efficient approach for synthesizing 3-acylmethylated coumarins. This method eliminates the need for conventional organic solvents, phase-transfer catalysts, and excess oxidants, ensuring operational simplicity and environmental sustainability. The reaction is scalable, accommodates a broad array of substrates with outstanding tolerance for functional groups, and offers a versatile route to biologically valuable coumarins.

Article Synopsis
  • - Oxytocin and its receptor (OXTR) play crucial roles in managing social behaviors and cognitive functions in the brain, influencing various intracellular signaling pathways.
  • - The effectiveness of oxytocin is closely tied to OXTR's regulation and expression, which may vary due to genetic and epigenetic factors.
  • - Recent research highlights how changes in OXTR gene methylation and polymorphism are linked to psychiatric disorders like autism, emphasizing the need for further understanding of these relations.

Background: Inflammation is the most common cause of kidney damage, and inflammatory responses in a number of diseases are mediated by microRNA-338-3p (miR-338-3p). However, there are only a few reports which described the regulation of miR-338-3p in human proximal tubular cells. The goal of this study was to see how miR-338-3p affected lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-caused inflammatory response in HK-2 cells.

  • Cyclodextrin-based cryoprotectants were created, specifically α-TMCD, which can be produced on a large scale and demonstrated improved cell viabilities for various cell types.
  • The use of α-TMCD resulted in a 103.2% increase in hucMSC cell numbers when observed under light microscopy.
  • An α-TMCD-DMSO combination exhibited stronger cryoprotective effects through enhanced cell penetration and synergy between DMSO and α-TMCD, highlighting its potential in cryopreservation applications.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) play important roles in human diseases, including infantile pneumonia. In this article, we aimed to investigate the functions of circ-BICC1 in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced injury of WI-38 cells. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) assay was performed for the levels of circ-BICC1, BICC1, microRNA-338-3p (miR-338-3p), and myeloid differentiation primary response 88 (MYD88).

Article Synopsis
  • - The study introduces a new type of renal-clearable nanomedicine, utilizing quanterrylene bisimide-mannose conjugates, which demonstrated an impressive renal clearance rate of 80.31% in mice.
  • - It discusses the process of self-assembly in these nanomedicines, which involves a dynamic adjustment to aggregate sizes based on renal filtration thresholds, allowing for optimal clearance while targeting tumors.
  • - The mannosylated designs enhance the nanomedicine's effectiveness in photothermal therapy specifically for breast cancer cells, confirming its potential for clinical applications.

Background: The severities of human adenovirus (HAdV) infection are diverse in different areas of Tibet, China, where a large altitude span emerges. Serious consequences may be caused by medical staff if the clinical stages and immunological conditions of patients in high-altitude areas are misjudged. However, the clinical symptoms, immunological characteristics, and environmental factors of HAdV infection patients at different altitude areas have not been well described.

The emergence of e-commerce and express delivery services has significantly transformed business operations and consumer shopping experience. However, the resulting problem of packaging waste, particularly from overpackaging, poses serious challenges to environmental sustainability and human health. Existing research has proposed many solutions from various perspectives, but very few have considered the acceptability and consumer preference for these proposals.

Objective: To study the clinical efficacy of interactive group sandplay versus individual sandplay in the treatment of preschool children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Methods: A total of 80 ASD children, aged 4-6 years, were enrolled and randomly divided into experimental and control groups, with 40 children in each group. The children in the experimental group joined group sandplay with normal children at a ratio of 1: 3, and those in the control group were treated with individual sandplay.

Objective: To study the clinical effect of integrated sandplay therapy in preschool children with Asperger syndrome (AS).

Methods: A total of 44 preschool children with AS were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 22 children in each group. The children in the control group were given routine training, and those in the experimental group were given integrated sandplay therapy in addition to the routine training.

Article Synopsis
  • The study looks at how the home environment affects language skills and emotions in kids with developmental language disorder (DLD).
  • It found that children with DLD often grow up in worse home environments compared to kids with normal language skills.
  • A better home environment helps these children develop their language and social-emotional skills, showing that home life really matters for their growth.

Basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF2) is a well-known endothelial mitogen that regulates endothelial cell proliferation, migration, differentiation, and survival. In the present study, we investigated the levels of FGF2 and fibroblastic growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) in saliva and serum of patients with salivary gland tumors. Saliva and serum samples were collected from 43 patients with salivary gland tumors and 40 healthy volunteers.
