Predictive model for coronavirus disease 2019 severity based on blood biomarkers: a retrospective study.

Objective: To develop and validate a clinical prediction model for assessing the severity of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) using blood biomarkers, aiming to support clinical decision-making and treatment guidance.

Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted at Beijing Shijitan Hospital on January 5, 2023, including SARS-CoV-2 positive patients with initial chest CT-detected from outpatient and emergency departments. Data on demographics, symptoms, and blood biomarkers were collected.

Association between systemic immune-inflammation index and latent tuberculosis infection: a cross-sectional study.

Background: The systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) has been associated with various diseases, but its relationship with latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) remains unclear. This study aimed to evaluate the association between SII and LTBI in United States adults.

Methods: Data were obtained from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999-2000 and 2011-2012 cycles.

A retrospective study on the efficacy of integrating traditional Chinese medicine with Western medicine in the treatment of adult measles.

Objective: Measles is a highly contagious, potentially fatal disease, and using western medicine for treating this disease showed some limits including the long period of treatment and some side effects. Of note, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) exhibited advantages of treating measles in using alone or combing with western medication. However, little information on the clinical study on adjunctive efficacy of TCM on measles.

Identification of de-novo CREBBP gene variants in patients with Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome.

Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome (RSTS) is an autosomal dominant genetic disease characterized by growth retardation, psychomotor retardation, and distinctive facial features. It is primarily caused by mutations in CREBBP or EP300. In this study, we aimed to describe the clinical manifestations and genetic analyses of two cases with RSTS.

Postoperative Bloodstream Infections in Patients with Peritoneal Surface Malignancies Undergoing Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy: Risk Factors and Pathogen Resistance.

Objective: In this study we aimed to evaluate the postoperative safety of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) combined with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for the treatment of peritoneal surface malignancies (PSM), and analyzed the risk factors and pathogen resistance associated with bloodstream infections.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the incidence of postoperative bloodstream infections in 1500 patients undergoing CRS and HIPEC for PSM. We utilized univariate and multivariate analyses to screen for independent risk factors associated with postoperative bloodstream infections in CRS combined with HIPEC.

Effect of Carbonic Anhydrase on CO Separation Performance of Thin Poly(amidoamine) Dendrimer/Poly(ethylene glycol) Hybrid Membranes.

The effect of carbonic anhydrase (CA) on the separation performance of thin poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimer/poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) hybrid membranes was investigated. CA, a type of enzyme, was used to promote CO hydration and dehydration reactions and to assess whether these reactions were the rate-limiting step in CO permeation through the membrane. The relationship between the membrane thickness and the CO permeance was evaluated in CO/H or CO/He separation using PAMAM/PEG hybrid membranes (thickness: 10-100 μm) with and without CA.

Safety and efficacy of preoperative abdominal Aortic balloon occlusion in placenta increta and/or percreta.

Background: With the increase of cesarean deliveries globally, the incidence of placenta adhesive disorder has been on the rise greatly which is associated closely with maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. We sought to investigate the safety and efficacy of preoperative transfemoral balloon occlusion of abdominal aorta in cesarean section of women with placenta increta or percreta.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of 31 patients with placenta increta or percreta diagnosed by ultrasound and/or magnetic resonance imaging.

Methods: Totally 68 HBeAg negative CVHB active compensated LC patients initially treated were assigned to the treatment group and the control group using random digit table, 34 in each group. Patients in the control group took ADT alone, 10 mg each time, once per day.

Clinical implication of changes in serum adiponectin in patients with hepatogenic diabetes.

Adiponectin is a protein hormone that modulates glucose metabolism and fatty acid oxidation. We explored the clinical implication of serum adiponectin in hepatogenic diabetes. Serum adiponectin levels were determined using enzyme-linked immunochemistry assay in 78 individuals including 19 hepatogenic diabetes, 20 type 2 diabetes (T2D), 20 chronic liver disease and 19 healthy controls.

Effect of Cross-Linking on the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Poly(amidoamine) Dendrimer/Poly(vinyl alcohol) Hybrid Membranes for CO2 Separation.

Poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers were incorporated into cross-linked poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) matrix to improve carbon dioxide (CO2) separation performance at elevated pressures. In our previous studies, PAMAM/PVA hybrid membranes showed high CO2 separation properties from CO2/H2 mixed gases. In this study, three types of organic Ti metal compounds were selected as PVA cross-linkers that were used to prepare PAMAM/cross-linked PVA hybrid membranes.
