To enhance the perpendicularity accuracy in the robotic drilling system, a normal sensor calibration method is proposed to identify the errors of the zero point and laser beam direction of laser displacement sensors simultaneously. The procedure of normal adjustment of the robotic drilling system is introduced firstly. Next the measurement model of the zero point and laser beam direction on a datum plane is constructed based on the principle of the distance measurement for laser displacement sensors.

Developing highly efficient and inexpensive photocatalysts without noble metals, yet remarkably enhancing hydrogen production and Cr(VI) reduction activity, is highly needed. Here, the effective photocatalytic H evolution under visible light from an Eosin Y (EY)-sensitized (P, Mo)-g-CN system by avoiding any noble metal co-catalyst is reported by the first time. Meanwhile, the optimized sample also displays the excellent performance in photocatalytic hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) reduction.

Nowadays, the industrial waste, Fly Ash (FA), as a mineral admixture or a replacement of cement for the production of self-compacting concrete (SCC) has been increasingly used, because of its benefits in enhancing both fresh and long-term concrete properties and in promoting environmental-friendly construction. In this study, the conventional cement was replaced by FA at different rates (0%, 20%, 40%, 60% of the cement mass) for the SCC mixtures. The early-age (0⁻24 h) SCC hydration, which is a complicated chemical reaction in pozzolanic behavior, was characterized by using a pair of piezoceramic Smart Aggregates (SAs).

To cope with the increasing environmental issues of red mud, an integrated technological route for its comprehensive utilization was developed through the extraction of valuable components and the synthesis of magnetic 4A-zeolite. Plant respiratory burst oxidase homologs (Rbohs), which are also named nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) oxidases (NOXs), are the homologs of mammalian phagocyte gp91. As a unique among other reactive oxygen species (ROS) production mechanisms in plants, NADPH oxidases can integrate different signal transduction pathways, such as calcium, protein phosphorylation catalysed by protein kinases, nitric oxide, and lipid messengers. Coupling with genetic studies, the ability of plant NADPH oxidases to integrate different signal transduction pathways with ROS production demonstrates their involvement in many important biological processes in cells, such as morphogenesis and development, and stress responses.

Pannexins serve an important role in the regulation of extracellular neuronal regenerative currents and cellular signal transduction of glial cells; however, the effects of pannexins in various cerebrovascular diseases have not been reported. The present study focused on the expression and influence of pannexins in a rat model of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), and confirmed that pannexins (including Pannexin‑1, Pannexin‑2 and Pannexin‑3) are expressed in rat brain tissues. However, only the expression of Pannexin‑1 was significantly increased and peaked 48 h post‑ICH.

The present clinical trial assessed the effect of double-dose administration of replication-deficient adenovirus-thymidine kinase and ganciclovir (ADV-TK/GCV) in patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who underwent liver transplantation (LT). Eighty-six patients with single tumor diameters >5 cm or multiple tumors with diameters >3 cm each, regardless of vascular invasion, were examined over a follow-up period of 61 months. All patients underwent orthotopic LT; 43 received LT only, and 43 received LT plus double-dose ADV-TK/GCV gene therapy (LT + ADV-TK/GCV).
