Importance: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by painful nodules and abscesses that have a significant impact on quality of life. In addition to other psychological comorbidities, patients with HS often face body image issues and emotional distress that may increase the risk of maladaptive eating behaviors and disordered eating.

Objective: To explore the role of disordered eating behaviors and diagnosed eating disorders among patients with HS and examine the underexplored relationship between HS and disordered eating.

Background: Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) in patients under 30 years is exceptionally rare, representing less than 1% of all cases. Limited data exist regarding optimal therapeutic approaches and outcomes in this age group.

Objective: To analyze clinicopathologic patterns and therapeutic outcomes of MCC in patients aged 0-30 years through systematic review of published literature.

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of fractional microneedle radiofrequency (FMR) combined with topical antioxidant serum (vitamin C, E, and ferulic acid) compared to FMR alone for neck rejuvenation.

Materials And Methods: This prospective, randomized, double-blind, split-neck trial included 31 participants aged 30-65 years with visible signs of neck aging. Subjects underwent two FMR treatments at 4-week intervals.

Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is a delayed-type hypersensitivity reaction that presents as a pruritic eczematous rash occurring 24 to 48 h after allergen exposure. It is a surgical complication that can impact people's quality of life after plastic surgeries. A 44-year-old female with right breast cancer presented with three recurrent episodes of severe pruritic cutaneous eczematous eruption over her right breast extending down to her trunk and vulva each time soon after her multiple breast surgeries.

2D van der Waals (vdW) magnets are gaining attention in fundamental physics and advanced spintronics, due to their unique dimension-dependent magnetism and potential for ultra-compact integration. However, achieving intrinsic ferromagnetism with high Curie temperature (T) remains a technical challenge, including preparation and stability issues. Herein, an applicable electrochemical intercalation strategy to decouple interlayer interaction and guide charge doping in antiferromagnet VOCl, thereby inducing robust room-temperature ferromagnetism, is developed.

Article Synopsis
  • Vision loss due to aesthetic filler treatments is a rare but serious complication, with 365 new cases identified between 2018 and 2023, primarily affecting the nose, forehead, and glabella.
  • The majority of cases involved hyaluronic acid fillers, and common symptoms included ptosis, ophthalmoplegia, pain, and skin changes, with a minority of patients experiencing any significant recovery of vision after treatment.
  • Although various treatments like hyaluronidase and steroids were used, none showed a significant improvement in vision outcomes, emphasizing the need for practitioners to be well-informed about prevention and management of such complications.

Article Synopsis
  • - Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) can cause complications like scarring and delayed healing, especially on the face, neck, and chest, prompting a study on laser treatments post-surgery for better recovery and scar reduction.
  • - A systematic review of 2,147 studies identified 17 relevant studies that showed lasers are effective for various applications related to wound healing and scar improvement with minimal adverse effects.
  • - Overall, laser treatment after MMS is considered safe, well-tolerated, and less invasive than surgery, resulting in high patient satisfaction rates.

The development of two-dimensional (2D) magnetic semiconductors with room-temperature ferromagnetism is a significant challenge in materials science and is important for the development of next-generation spintronic devices. Herein, we demonstrate that a 2D semiconducting antiferromagnetic Cu-MOF can be endowed with intrinsic room-temperature ferromagnetic coupling using a ligand cleavage strategy to regulate the inner magnetic interaction within the Cu dimers. Using the element-selective X-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) technique, we provide unambiguous evidence for intrinsic ferromagnetism.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition with painful lesions in friction-prone areas, impacting patients' physical and mental well-being. Adults with HS experience higher rates of depression, anxiety, and reduced quality of life. Children with HS may also face these challenges, but a comprehensive review of their mental health implications is lacking.

Two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) p-type semiconductors have shown attractive application prospects as atomically thin channels in electronic devices. However, the high Schottky hole barrier of p-type semiconductor-metal contacts induced by Fermi-level pinning is hardly removed. Herein, we prepare a vdW 1T-CoSnanosheet as the contact electrode of a WSefield-effect transistor (FET), which shows a considerably high on/off ratio > 10and a hole mobility of ∼114.

Article Synopsis
  • Mycobacterium haemophilum (MH) is a slow-growing bacterium primarily affecting immunocompromised individuals, often leading to skin infections that can either be isolated or widespread.
  • A review of 79 cases from 2011-2022 found common skin manifestations such as nodules, ulcers, and abscesses, particularly in middle-aged patients taking immunosuppressive medications.
  • Treatment generally lacks strong guidelines, but a combination of quinolone, macrolides, and rifampicin is commonly used, and while the prognosis is generally good, specific factors like iatrogenic immunosuppression and proximal limb lesions can worsen outcomes.
