Despite the established clinical efficacy following intravascular imaging (IVI)-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) than angiography-guided PCI, evidence regarding prognostic benefits of IVI-guided PCI in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients with high thrombus burden remains limited. Using the nationwide registries of KAMIR-NIH and KAMIR-V, we evaluated the prognostic impact of IVI-guided PCI in AMI patients with high thrombus burden. A total of 4,074 patients with AMI and TIMI thrombus grades 4 or 5 who underwent aspiration thrombectomy were selected, of whom 892 patients (21.

To improve the image quality of active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) displays at low luminance levels, a novel power structure is proposed. Its effectiveness was validated by fabricating a 13-inch AMOLED panel with a tandem OLED and evaluating its optical performance. Compared to the conventional structure, the proposed structure reduced panel luminance deviation by 12% and color deviation by 41%, while also achieving a 41% reduction in hysteresis-induced color shift.

Urban particulate matter (PM) significantly contributes to air pollution. was extracted using ethanol (SHE) and subsequently partitioned with n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and water. Antioxidant activities of fractions, including DPPH and ABTS radical, hydrogen peroxide, hydroxyl radical scavenging activities, and metal chelating effects, were evaluated against oxidative damage induced by PM.

Purpose: To evaluate the incidence, clinical features, risk factors, and outcomes of full-thickness macular hole (FTMH) formation after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) for the removal of epiretinal membrane (ERM).

Methods: This retrospective study reviewed the medical charts of the 309 eyes of the 306 patients with PPV for ERM removal from 2012 to 2024 using clinical data warehouse search. Patients were categorized into two groups; one group with development of macular hole (MH) ('MH' group) and the other group without MH development ('no MH' group) after ERM surgery.

Aims: Inferior positioning of the calcar screw is important in the purchase of medial screws when treating proximal humeral fractures with a locking plate. However, the impact of the overall trajectory of the calcar screw has not been investigated. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the failure of a calcar screw to purchase both proximal and distal fragments would contribute to an increased risk of failure of fixation in these patients.

Taxifolin is a natural flavonoid found in a variety of plants, including Siberian larch () and milk thistle (), that has attracted attention for its multifaceted pharmacological properties, including cardioprotective effects. Through its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, taxifolin has shown significant therapeutic potential in cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, myocardial ischemia, and diabetic cardiomyopathy. This review highlights the cardioprotective effects of taxifolin in preclinical models of atherosclerosis, ischemia/reperfusion injury, and diabetic cardiomyopathy.

(1) Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is characterized by liver damage similar to alcoholic fatty liver disease, including triglyceride infiltration of hepatocytes, regardless of alcohol consumption. It leads to progressive liver damage, such as loss of liver function, cirrhosis, and liver cancer, and the response rate of drugs under clinical research is less than 50%. There is an urgent need for biomarkers to evaluate the efficacy of these drugs.

Background: Fractional flow reserve (FFR)-guided or angiography-guided complete revascularization has not been evaluated in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) with multivessel disease and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). This study sought to evaluate the impact of FFR-guided percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for patients with AMI with multivessel disease according to left ventricular systolic function.

Methods: We performed a prespecified analysis of the FRAME-AMI (Fractional Flow Reserve Versus Angiography-Guided Strategy in Acute Myocardial Infarction With Multivessel Disease) trial, which randomly allocated 562 patients to undergo either FFR-guided PCI (FFR ≤0.

Although cadmium sulfide (CdS) is a promising visible light-active photocatalyst, it is highly toxic. Therefore, in addition to improving the photocatalytic properties of CdS, enhancing its recoverability would allow for more environmentally friendly photocatalytic reactions. In this study, ferrimagnetic FeO nanoparticles (NPs) were added to CdS to form a heterostructure, and photocatalytic CdS NPs were efficiently recovered.

Introduction: Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is widely used for embolic stroke of undetermined source (ESUS) despite limited evidence regarding its efficacy and safety. This study compared DAPT and single antiplatelet therapy (SAPT) in patients with ESUS during hospitalization (first 7 days) and up to 30 days post-stroke, identifying subgroups that benefit most from DAPT.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data from 4,505 patients with ESUS enrolled in a multicenter registry from 2014 to 2019.

The Mayo imaging classification (MIC) for polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is a crucial basis for clinical treatment decisions; however, the volumetric assessment for its evaluation remains tedious and inaccurate. While the ellipsoid method for measuring the total kidney volume (TKV) in patients with PKD provides a practical TKV estimation using computed tomography (CT), its inconsistency and inaccuracy are limitations, highlighting the need for improved, accessible techniques in real-world clinics. We compared manual ellipsoid and artificial intelligence (AI)-based kidney volumetry methods using a convolutional neural network-based segmentation model (3D Dynamic U-Net) for measuring the TKV by assessing 32 patients with PKD in a single tertiary hospital.

Purpose: Extracranial internal carotid artery (ICA) stenosis is a known cause of large artery ischemic stroke. However, its association with cerebral arterial hemodynamics has been relatively underexplored. This study investigates the relationship between extracranial ICA stenosis and signal intensity gradient (SIG) in major cerebral arteries.

ATG8s are essential for autophagy as they recruit various machinery to autophagic structures. We previously reported that the intracellular Ca channel TRPML3 specifically interacts with the mammalian ATG8 homolog GATE16, but not LC3B to increase autophagy. However, the underlying mechanism and the role of this specific interaction remain unclear.

Cytotoxicity profiling of screening libraries is a critical component in early-stage drug discovery to identify compounds with undesirable toxic effects. Here, we report the cytotoxicity profiling of the Korea Chemical Bank (KCB) diversity library, comprising 7040 compounds curated via virtual screening, clustering, and druggability assessment. A subset of 5181 compounds was randomly selected and screened using the WST-1 assay in five mammalian cell lines (HEK293, HFL1, HepG2, NIH3T3, and CHOK1) at concentrations of 30 µM and 10 µM, following 24 h and 48 h incubation periods.

Background: Chronic lung diseases (CLDs) such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease, and chronic asthma contribute significantly to the global burden of disease. Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is an effective intervention for improving the exercise capacity, increasing the quality of life, and reducing hospitalizations in individuals with CLD. However, benefits from PR quickly decline following discharge from traditional programs.

Secondary metabolites have crucial medicinal and industrial applications, but their alignment with primary metabolism remains unclear. As secondary metabolism depends on primary metabolism for precursor supply, we present a pan-reactome analysis of 242 Streptomyces strains to investigate their association and disconnection. This analysis includes phylogenetic grouping of the strains using genome data, and uniform manifold approximation and projection (UMAP) analysis of their genome-scale metabolic models (GEMs) and biosynthetic gene cluster (BGC) data, which represent biochemical reactions in primary and secondary metabolism.
