Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most prevalent neurodegenerative disorder, characterized by progressive motor and cognitive decline, leading to long-term disability and significantly impacting quality of life. While PD research has traditionally focused on dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra (SN), emerging evidence also suggests glial involvement in disease progression. So, this study explored PD-associated key genes from neuronal and glial cell types to uncover pathogenetic mechanisms and potential therapeutics by employing single-nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA-seq) data from the accession number GSE184950.

Climate change is causing more frequent and extraordinary extreme weather events that are already negatively affecting crop production. There is a need for improved climate risk assessment by developing smart adaptation strategies for sustainable future crop production. This study aims to assess yield impacts of extreme temperatures and rainfall variability on wheat, and winter and summer season-planted maize in northwestern Bangladesh.

Lectins are carbohydrate-binding proteins with diverse biological functions, particularly their roles in innate immunity through the recognition of pathogen-associated molecular patterns and mediation of non-specific immune responses. This study investigates the bioactivities of mucus lectins derived from Lissachatina fulica (LFLs). The LFLs were purified using ion exchange chromatography and analyzed for toxicity, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antitumor, and insecticidal properties.

Cervical cancer is a major global health concern, primarily caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), which spreads through unsafe sexual contact. Natural immunity often fails to provide full protection, permitting exogenous reinfection, which plays a key role in the persistence and transmission of HPV. This paper presents and analyzes a deterministic mathematical model of HPV transmission, incorporating exogenous re-infection.

Understanding BC awareness and self-examination practices among young women is essential for enhancing early detection and prevention efforts. This study aims to assess BC awareness, knowledge of risk factors, and the practice of breast self-examination (BSE) among female university students in Dinajpur District, Bangladesh.

This study delves into the extraction of solutions for the fractional-order that describes wave circulation in space-time fractional low-pass electrical transmission (LPET) lines and Drinfel'd-Sokolov-Wilson (DSW) equations. Leveraging the Sardar-subequation scheme, by applying a simple linear fractional transformation, the model equations are transformed into an ordinary differential equation. The use of the Sardar-subequation technique produces a diverse range of traveling waveform for the governing equations.

Obesity is a global health crisis associated with various metabolic and psychological dysfunctions, which requires a comprehensive therapeutic approach. This study aimed to assess the combined effects of Pediococcus pentosaceus E24-168 and exercise on obesity-related dysfunctions and anxiety in mice with high-fat diet (HFD)-induced obesity. Swiss Albino male mice were divided into five groups: control, HFD, HFD with exercise (HFD + Ex), HFD with Pediococcus pentosaceus E24-168 (HFD + PP), and HFD with both exercise and Pediococcus pentosaceus E24-168 (HFD + Ex + PP).

Research on the relationship between socioeconomic status (SES), the prevalence of disability, and the use of healthcare services by people with disabilities is limited. The aim of this study is to identify socioeconomic predictors of disability and examine the utilization of healthcare services among people with disabilities in Bangladesh. We used the first national representative, the National Household Survey on Persons with Disabilities (NSPD) 2021 survey data.

Background: The continuous degradation of the environment requires us to change our current poor eco-friendly behaviors towards more pro-environmental actions. Hence, it is essential to understand the factors promoting pro-environmental behaviors (PEBs). To this end, this study was designed to investigate the relationship between moral quotient (MQ) and PEBs mediated by the sense of obligation of university students engaged in co-curricular activities.

Early studies have shown that erythrocytes have caspase-3 and caspase-8 and are capable of dying through an apoptotic-like cell death triggered by Ca ionophores. This cell death is associated with apoptosis-like morphological signs, including cell shrinkage, membrane blebbing, and phosphatidylserine externalization. To emphasize that mature erythrocytes don't have the apoptotic mitochondrial machinery and distinguish this unique cell death modality from apoptosis, it was named "eryptosis".

The environment and human health are at risk when industrial waste leaks into aquatic environments. Green-synthesized magnetite-maghemite nanocomposites (GSMMNs) were developed in this study as bio-synthesized adsorbents for removing heavy metals from water. The XRD, TEM, FT-IR, SEM-EDS, BET, VSM, and XPS analyses characterized the nanocomposites.

This study aimed to assess emerging pollutants and heavy metals (HMs) in pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs), industrial effluents, and their environmental impacts using several indices. The mean HM concentrations for pharmaceutical and personal care product (PCP) effluents were in the order of Fe > Ni > Cr > Mn > Pb > Zn > Cu > Cd and Cu > Mn > Cr > Fe > Zn ≥ Pb > Ni > Cd, respectively, where Cr, Ni, Pb, and Cd concentrations for pharmaceutical effluent and Cr, Mn, and Cd for PCP effluent exceeded their accepted limits set by the Department of Environment, Bangladesh 2019. The values of chemical oxygen demand (COD) for PCP effluent were found to be much higher in all seasons, while these values for pharmaceutical effluent slightly exceeded the permissible limits of the Bangladesh Environmental Conservation Rules 2023 in two seasons.

Background: Maintaining an appropriate gap between childbirths is essential for promoting the health of both the mother and the child. This practice lowers the risk of adverse maternal and child health outcomes. Inadequate birth spacing is a multifaceted issue linked to increase infant mortality and has the potential to impact the health and demographic landscape of the nation.

Infectious diseases pose significant challenges to livestock production, compromising animal health and reducing economic productivity. To address these challenges, CpG-oligodeoxynucleotides (CpG-ODNs) have emerged as promising immunomodulators that stimulate the innate immune system through Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9), offering a potential strategy for enhancing disease resistance in livestock. This study examined MsST, a class B CpG-ODN derived from Streptococcus thermophilus, a representative lactic acid bacterium widely used in yogurt production, and its role in modulating CXCL5 expression in macrophages.

Microplastics (MPs) are tiny particles derived from plastic, and their high fragmentation poses a significant threat to the marine environment. MPs can originate from various sources, such as primary or secondary sources as well as internal or external sources. However, in marine environments, MPs mainly enter from external sources, such as plastic waste, debris from land-based activities, tourism, shipping, and atmospheric deposition.

Proton pump inhibitors are essential for treating moderate-to-severe gastroesophageal reflux, peptic ulcers, esophagitis, and related conditions by increasing gastric pH and inhibiting hydrogen ion discharge into the stomach. However, prolonged use may lead to adverse effects along with reduced efficacy. Our research investigates the strategic modification of omeprazole (OMP) derivatives to improve their binding affinity to targeted proteins, thereby enhancing their chemical reactivity, stability, and toxicity profiles.

Heavy metal contamination, particularly cadmium pollution, is a critical environmental concern that poses a serious threat to sustainable agriculture. Our study examined the impact of Bacillus pseudomycoides (Bp) on enhancing rice seedling growth, metabolism, stress tolerance, and reducing cadmium accumulation, with potential applications for mitigating heavy metal toxicity and promoting sustainable agriculture. A 50-min seed inoculation with Bp resulted in the greatest enhancements in seed emergence rate, seedling vigor, germination capability, plant stature, dry weight, and relative water content.
