Purpose: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer worldwide and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Few studies have examined the preventive effects of dietary factors against CRC in Asian populations. Thus, this systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to synthesize and analyze current evidence on the relationships between various dietary components and the risk of CRC, colon cancer, and rectal cancer in Asian populations.

Objective: This study aimed to develop a short form of the Korean version of the Sleep-Related Behaviors Questionnaire (SRBQ) and assess its validity and psychometric properties.
Method: We collected 300 responses from the EMBRAIN survey system and conducted exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses to group SRBQ items based on response similarity. The most representative item from each group was selected using eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost).

Objective: We developed a Korean-language version of the Anxiety and Preoccupation about Sleep Questionnaire (APSQ) and then assessed its reliability and validity among the general population by comparing its results with those of preexisting questionnaires regarding sleep-related cognition.
Methods: The study participants (n=300) completed the newly translated APSQ as well as Korean versions of the Dysfunctional Beliefs and Attitudes about Sleep-16 items (DBAS-16) Scale, Metacognitions Questionnaire-Insomnia-14 items (MCQI-14), Glasgow Sleep Effort Scale (GSES), and Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) through an online platform accessible from 17-27 July 2023. A confirmatory factor analysis of the APSQ revealed good fits for both the full-scale and two-factor models, consistent with the original version.

Objective: This study aimed to describe and compare the epidemiological injury patterns at the World Taekwondo Championships (WTC) in 2017 Muju, 2019 Manchester and 2022 Guadalajara, with consideration of changes in the competition rules.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study design using a modified injury surveillance system (ISS) was applied across three WTC events. Injury incidence proportion was computed and calculated both per 1000 athlete exposures and per 1000 minutes of exposure.

The analysis of heart sound signals is critical in the early diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. However, the complexity and diversity of these signals pose significant challenges for accurate recognition. In this paper, we propose a novel heart sound dual-branch feature extraction network (HSDFE-Net) to address these challenges.

This study examined the effects of the Thank You-Sorry-Love (TSL) program on depression, anger, marital satisfaction, and cortisol levels among military spouses. A total of 18 military spouses were matched and randomly assigned to either an experimental group ( = 9), which participated in the TSL program, or a control group ( = 9), which did not receive the intervention. Depression, anger, marital satisfaction, and cortisol levels (an oxidative stress biomarker) were measured at two time points: pretest and posttest.

The objectives of this study were to identify genes associated with vanillin tolerance and to elucidate the link between vanillin tolerance and oxidative stress and the hog1 pathway activation in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae for the production of biofuels and renewable chemicals from lignocellulosic biomass. In this study, one strain tolerant to vanillin stress was isolated through a transposon-mediated mutant library, and the disrupted gene was identified as SAP1. In addition, this phenotype associated with vanillin tolerance was confirmed by deletion and overexpressing of this corresponding gene.

Background: The resolution of clinical medical images may be reduced due to differences in the radiation dose, sampling equipment, and storage methods. Low-resolution (LR) medical images blur lesion feature information and affect the diagnostic accuracy of clinicians. To address this issue, we proposed the fusing residual dense and attention in generative adversarial network (FRDAGAN) for the super-resolution (SR) of medical images.

Chlorella is a genus of aquatic photosynthetic microalgae used in the production of dietary supplements, cosmetics, and biofuels, and also recently utilized as biological control agents or biofertilizers in agricultural supplements. Chlorella supernatant elicits induced resistance in Arabidopsis thaliana but its effects on crop plants remain largely unknown. This study tested whether application of Chlorella supernatant elicited induced resistance in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.

Gastric cancer is the fifth most common cancer and a leading cause of death worldwide. Despite a substantial body of research exploring individual food groups or dietary patterns in isolation, few studies have assessed the overall strength of the association between multiple dietary factors and gastric cancer risk. The aim for this meta-analysis was to identify the associations between dietary factors and gastric cancer risk in the Asian population.

: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major health concern in Korea, with its increasing incidence emphasizing the urgent need to identify risk factors. Recent studies suggest that heme iron elevates CRC risk, but evidence remains conflicting. This study examined the associations between total, heme, and non-heme iron intake and the incidence of colorectal, colon, and rectal cancer in Koreans.

Large-scale culture of the microalga Chlorella produces valuable products. Cultivation also generates tons of supernatant waste that require detoxification and disposal. Recent research has focused on recycling waste supernatant as a plant protectant and biofertilizer, although, to date, most studies have considered its use as a biological control of pathogens infecting dicot plants.

While research exists to induce fatigue using isokinetic dynamometers or simple repetition tasks in patients with chronic ankle instability (CAI), there is a lack of research examining landing movement strategies using fatigue protocols that mimic actual sports. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the effects of CAI and fatiguing exercises on the lower-extremity kinematics and kinetics during single-leg drop landings among patients with CAI, lateral ankle sprain (LAS) copers and controls. A cross-sectional study recruited 20 patients with CAI, 20 LAS copers, and 20 controls in a biomechanics laboratory.

Background: Given that Korea lacks measures to promote cost-effective prescribing, this study investigated the efficiency of prescribers' decision-making when faced with the choice of 398 products containing 15 proton pump inhibitors (PPI).
Objective: This study aimed to explore PPI prescribing patterns in ambulatory care over 10 years and elucidate prescribers' practices. Further analysis was conducted to estimate the achievable potential savings, assuming that the recommendation of first-choice drugs is based on the rational use of medicines.

To address the anisotropy of mechanical properties and the challenge of removing support materials in lattice structures fabricated using fused deposition modeling (FDM), this study is inspired by traditional woodworking mortise and tenon joints. A hexagonal interlocking mortise lattice structure was designed, and mortise and tenon lattice structures (MTLSs) with various parameters were fabricated. Compared with the traditional integrated forming lattice structure (IFLS), the MTLS exhibits maximum reductions in side surface roughness (Ra), printing time, and material consumption of 74.

As an essential component of mechanical systems, bearing fault diagnosis is crucial to ensure the safe operation of the equipment. However, vibration data from bearings often exhibit non-stationary and nonlinear features, which complicates fault diagnosis. To address this challenge, this paper introduces a novel multi-scale time-frequency and statistical features fusion model (MTSF-FM).
