Halogenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (HPAHs) including chlorinated (ClPAHs) and brominated (BrPAHs) variants, are emerging contaminants that are considered the next-generation candidates of persistent organic pollutants. Since there was a significant gap exists in understanding of partitioning dynamics of HPAHs between the particulate phase (PP) and dissolved phase (DP) considering many congeners, this study analyzed 75 congeners of parent PAHs and HPAHs (p/HPAHs) in the samples collected from 27 sites from 20 water bodies in Sri Lanka. The results revealed that the mean of the total concentrations of PAHs, ClPAHs, and BrPAHs in the aqueous phase (PP + DP) were 55.

Extracellular Vesicles (EVs) are small, membrane-bound particles released by cells into biological fluids, where they function as mediators of intercellular communication. These vesicles transport a diverse array of bioactive molecules, including proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids, and play essential roles in regulating physiological and pathological processes. Recent research has revealed the significance of EVs in reproductive biology, particularly in the areas of spermatozoa maturation, oocyte development, embryo implantation, and maternal-fetal interactions.

Removal of large uterine fibroids traditionally requires extended midline laparotomy, leading to significant postoperative morbidity and poor cosmetic outcomes. While laparoscopic surgery offers a favourable outcome, it is not possible in case of large fibroids. Morcellation is a technique used in laparoscopic surgeries, which helps in the disintegration of fibroid into small parts before taking it out.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is associated with heightened cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk, partly due to impaired peripheral vascular function. Symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) and asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) are emerging biomarkers implicated in nitric oxide (NO) regulation and vascular health. Although ADMA is a well-established inhibitor of NO synthesis, recent evidence suggests that SDMA may also play a critical role in vascular health, especially in CKD before end-stage.

L-theanine, an amino acid found in tea, and caffeine, found in tea and coffee, are claimed to enhance attention. We conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled, counterbalanced, two-way crossover trial to determine the acute effects of a high-dose L-theanine-caffeine combination on neurobehavioural (reaction time) and neurophysiological (P3b cognitive event-related potential (ERP)) measures of selective attention in acutely sleep-deprived healthy adults. Thirty-seven overnight sleep-deprived healthy adults (aged 22-30 years, twenty-one men) completed a computerised traffic-scene-related visual stimulus discrimination task before and 50 min after ingesting 200 mg L-theanine-160 mg caffeine combination or a placebo.
