Hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV) represent a menacing health problem worldwide and its risk of contamination and transmission by routine activities and contact with infected patients and its remarkable adverse effects and presence of silent carriers. The diagnosis developed with the developing techniques using more specific techniques. The aim is to study the epidemiology and molecular detection of HBV and HCV in the Anbar governorate (Fallujah and Amiriyah) and the correlation between the viral load of HBV and HCV on liver functions.

Background: Dermatophytosis, which is characterized by superficial infection of keratinized tissues, is the most frequent fungal disease in small animal veterinary medicine. Diagnosing dermatophytosis purely according to clinical indications is problematic because dermatological findings vary, and various other skin diseases resemble the characteristic fungal lesion.
Aim: This study aimed to detect the prevalence of dermatophytes in pet cats with skin lesions who presented to private veterinary clinics in Ramadi and Fallujah cities, Iraq.

Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), web-like complex structures secreted by neutrophils, have emerged as key players in the modulation of immune responses and the immunopathogenesis of immune disorders. Initially described for their antimicrobial function, NETs now play a part in the fundamental processes of cancer biology, including cancer initiation, metastatic dissemination, and immune evasion strategies. NETs hijack anti-tumor immunity by entrapping circulating cancer cells, fostering the growth of tumors, and reorganizing the tumor microenvironment such that it is pro-malignancy.

Preeclampsia (PE), which affects between 2 and 15% of pregnancies, is one of the most often reported prenatal problems. It is defined as gestational hypertension beyond 20 weeks of pregnancy, along with widespread edema or proteinuria and specific types of organ damage. PE is characterized by increased levels and activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) in the mother's blood and placental cells.

Objectives: Febuxostat, an oral medication for treating hyperuricemia (HUA), is a non-purine xanthine oxidase inhibitor that regulates serum uric acid (SUA) metabolism in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). However, the drug's effectiveness in improving renal function in patients with non-dialysis stage 3/4 CKD remains unclear. Our aim is to investigate the efficacy of febuxostat on kidney function.

Silicon-based photodetectors offer notable advantages in cost, performance, and reliability. However, while nanoscale silicon (porous silicon, PSi) effectively emits visible light, it remains inefficient as an indirect-bandgap semiconductor. To improve its optoelectronic properties, coupling silicon with a wide-bandgap semiconductor is a promising strategy.

Background: Obesity is a major worldwide health problem and is associated with numerous diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and some types of cancers. In the current cross-sectional study, we aimed to evaluate the association between a novel dietary obesity prevention score (DOPS) with metabolic parameters including serum lipid profile, glycemic markers, electrolyte status and blood pressure in individuals with obesity.
Methods: Three hundred and four individuals with obesity aged 18-65 years old were recruited through convenient sampling; anthropometric and dietary assessments were performed and blood pressure was measured.

Irisin, a myokine released during physical exercise, has emerged as a key mediator of muscle health and metabolic regulation. This review synthesizes current evidence on how aerobic exercise stimulates irisin release and its subsequent effects, including enhanced muscle mass, strength, and recovery. Additionally, irisin promotes the browning of white adipose tissue, improving fat metabolism and glucose regulation.

Neuroinflammation is a critical mechanism in central nervous system (CNS) inflammatory disorders, encompassing conditions such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), Huntington's disease (HD), multiple sclerosis (MS), traumatic brain injury (TBI), encephalitis, spinal cord injury (SCI), and cerebral stroke. Neuroinflammation is characterized by increased blood vessel permeability, leukocyte infiltration, glial cell activation, and elevated production of inflammatory mediators, such as chemokines and cytokines. Microglia act as the resident macrophages of the central nervous system, serving as the principal defense mechanism in brain tissue.

A label-free electrochemical immunosensor based on the zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF8)/bismuth ferrite (BFO) nanocomposite was fabricated for the specific and sensitive quantification of prostate-specific antigen (PSA). The ZIF8-BFO material not only increases the surface area effectively but also enhances the catalytic capability of the electrode through a dual amplification strategy, leading to the improved sensitivity of the probe for PSA recognition. A thin layer of l-cysteine was used for two reasons: providing a scaffold for the next functionalization and reducing the fouling of plasma ingredients on the surface of the probe.

With the ongoing development of the Chinese economy, the occurrence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) has experienced a remarkable upsurge recently, and due to uremia caused by CKD, the number of patients undergoing dialysis has shown a dramatic increase. China has been ranked first in the world for patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD) and peritoneal dialysis (PD) with approximately one million patients across the country. Due to the loss of kidney function caused by CKD, the kidneys tend to lose their ability to excrete uric acid (UA) out of the body; therefore, most patients undergoing dialysis are complicated with hyperuricemia (HUA).

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients often suffer from complications such as anemia as the kidney function declines. More than 25% of CKD hemodialysis patients in China are complicated with renal anemia due to renal and hepatic impairment in the production of erythropoietin (EPO). In recent years, prolyl hydroxylase domain (PHD) inhibitors have been approved in China and Japan for the treatment of CKD patients complicated with anemia.

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles with a diameter ranging from 40 to 160 nm. They are produced by hepatocytes, cholangiocytes, hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) and Kupffer cells in liver tissue. The secretion of exosomes might vary in quantity and composition in reaction to multiple triggers and various stages of disease.
