: Wound healing and scar management remain significant challenges in dermatology and aesthetic medicine. Recent advances in regenerative medicine have introduced plant-derived exosome-like nanoparticles (PDENs) as potential therapeutic agents due to their bioactive properties. This study examines the clinical application of rose stem cell exosomes (RSCEs) in combination with established treatments for managing different types of scars.

Patients undergoing epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor (EGFRI) therapy frequently experience dermatologic side effects, notably papulopustular rash, which impacts 50-90% of recipients. This rash typically appears on the face, chest, and back within weeks of treatment, resembling acne but stemming from distinct pathophysiological mechanisms, causing significant discomfort and reduced quality of life. Prophylactic measures and symptom-based treatment are recommended, emphasizing patient education, topical agents, and systemic therapies for severe cases.

: Hypertrophic olivary degeneration (HOD) is a rare form of trans-synaptic degeneration involving the Guillain-Mollaret triangle, characterized by enlargement of the inferior olivary nucleus-unlike the atrophy typical of most neurodegenerative processes. It is usually associated with stroke, surgical injury, or demyelination, but rarely follows hemorrhage from a cavernous malformation (CM). This report presents a case of HOD secondary to a mesencephalic CM hemorrhage, with emphasis on imaging findings and diagnostic considerations.

Heart failure readmissions remain a major challenge for healthcare systems, contributing significantly to morbidity, mortality, and increased healthcare costs. Despite advancements in medical and device-based therapies, rehospitalization rates remain high, particularly within the first 30 days of discharge. This review aims to evaluate the primary factors associated with HF readmissions and discuss evidence-based strategies to reduce these rates.

Early language development, a key predictor of later academic achievement, arises out of social interactions and communication. High-quality social and emotional interactions in early child care and education (ECCE) programs may therefore promote language-rich environments for young children. While culturally and linguistically minoritized communities face systemic barriers that limit equitable access to high-quality ECCE including social and emotional learning (SEL) programs, access to evidence-based SEL programs remains inequitable, disproportionately benefiting White, English-speaking, and higher-income ECCE providers.

Uterine leiomyomas, commonly known as fibroids, are the most prevalent benign tumors in women of reproductive age and a major contributor to gynecological morbidity. Although surgery and hormonal therapies are standard treatments, their associated side effects have prompted the search for safer, non-hormonal alternatives. Oligo-fucoidan, a sulfated polysaccharide derived from brown seaweed, has demonstrated anti-fibrotic and estrogen-regulating effects in preclinical models, but its clinical potential remains largely unexplored.

This study examined whether SNPs at the 17q12-q21 locus that are associated with childhood asthma are also associated with severe respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection and viral load. We conducted a candidate SNP association study in the subset of RSV-infected infants who were parent-identified as White ( = 159) in the INSPIRE cohort. Nine SNPs at the 17q12-q21 locus were genotyped.

Background: Retriage is the emergent interhospital transfer of severely injured patients from nontrauma and low-level trauma centers to high-level trauma centers. An estimated 17%-34% of patients with traumatic injury are undertriaged to nontrauma or low-level trauma centers in the United States each year. These patients see 30% increased odds of mortality at 48 hours and nearly 4-fold increased odds of overall mortality.

Background: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a major complication in lung cancer, and remains challenging to predict with current risk models. This study assesses the utility of a Polygenic Score (PGS) for VTE risk stratification in lung cancer patients.
Methods: Analyzing UK Biobank data with 3,241 lung cancer patients, we explored the association between a high PGS, with and without positive monogenic mutations (factor V Leiden [FVL]/ prothrombin gene mutation [PGM]), and VTE incidence.

Objective: The Spinal Laminectomy Versus Instrumented Pedicle Screw trial reported the superiority of fusion compared to laminectomy alone for patients with grade 1 degenerative spondylolisthesis. However, it remains unclear if the advantages of fusion extend to using minimally invasive surgical (MIS) techniques. This study compared 60-month outcomes following minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) versus decompression for grade 1 spondylolisthesis.

Metal-organic frameworks are an excellent platform for photochemical CO reduction into valuable chemicals. Herein, we report the synthesis and photocatalytic behavior of Ru@MOF-808, a Zr-based MOF, modified with a Ru-polypyridyl complex. The postsynthetic modification was achieved using solvent-assisted incorporation of bipyridine-carboxylate ligands onto the nodes of the MOF-808, followed by the coordination of Ru(II)-terpyridine moiety.

Evidence has emerged of a discrepancy in tropical Pacific sea surface temperature (SST) trends over the satellite era, where most coupled climate models struggle to simulate the observed La Niña-like SST trends. Here we highlight wider implications of the tropical Pacific SST trend discrepancy for global circulation trends during boreal winter, using two complementary methods to constrain coupled model SST trends: conditioning near-term climate prediction (hindcast) simulations, and pacemaking coupled climate simulations. The robust circulation trend response to constraining the tropical Pacific SST trend resembles the interannual La Niña response.

Living systems display complex behaviors driven by physical forces as well as decision-making. Hydrodynamic theories hold promise for simplified universal descriptions of socially generated collective behaviors. However, the construction of such theories is often divorced from the data they should describe.

Electronic patient portals are associated with improved health outcomes in primary care settings. We assessed the relationship between patient portal enrollment and retention in care and HIV viral suppression in an urban HIV care clinic. In multivariable models, people with HIV with an active portal account had higher odds of HIV viral suppression (Odds Ratio [OR]: 2.

Care coordination is integral during posthospital transitions. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has sought to promote post-hospitalization care coordination through population-based alternative payment models (APMs) and transitional care management (TCM) services. Both can be associated with benefits, but data are lacking about their overlap.

Efficient and accurate computation of molecular Auger electron spectra for larger systems is limited by the rapid increase in the number of doubly ionized final states as the system size grows. In this work, we benchmark the application of multiconfiguration pair-density functional theory with a restricted active space (RAS) reference wave function for computing the carbon K-edge decay spectra of 20 organic molecules. Decay rates are computed within the one-center approximation.

Background: Toddlers (age 365-<547 days) with MYCN non-amplified (MYCN-NA) metastatic neuroblastoma (NBL) that have at least one unfavorable biologic feature ("mixed biology toddlers") are a rare NBL subgroup in need of further study.
Methods: Using the International Neuroblastoma Risk Group (INRG) Data Commons, we identified all toddlers with newly diagnosed metastatic, MYCN-NA NBL. Unfavorable biologic features included (1) unfavorable histology, (2) DNA index ≤1, (3) 1p loss of heterozygosity (LOH), and (4) 11q LOH.

Background: Patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) who are managed medically have a poor prognosis. No contemporary studies have examined resource use and costs associated with medical management for severe AS.
Methods: Using the Optum Market Clarity Database, which links electronic health records with cost and use data, we identified patients with documented severe AS between 2016 and 2020 who were eligible for aortic valve replacement but did not undergo treatment within 1 year following diagnosis.
