Introduction: The International Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH) guidelines suggest a three-step evaluation for the detection of lupus anticoagulant (LA), including screening, mixing, and confirmation. According to the guidelines, the LA assay based on activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) should include an initial screening step followed by a confirmatory step that uses a higher concentration of phospholipids in either bilayer or hexagonal form. For the activator, the guidelines recommend using silica, though ellagic acid is also an option.

Phenolic compounds are secondary metabolites widely distributed among plants, with bioactive properties, especially antioxidant activity. The search for sustainable extraction methods has driven the use of natural deep eutectic solvents (NaDESs), formed by combinations of natural compounds, such as organic acids, sugars, alcohols, and amino acids. This study optimized NaDES (sorbitol, citric acid, and glycine) efficiency and compared it to that of 70% methanol solution in extracting total soluble phenolic compounds (TSPCs) from six flours matrices-corn, buckwheat, biofortified orange sweet potato, red lentil, Sudan grass, and chickpea-before and after thermoplastic extrusion cooking.

Forest allocation of net primary productivity (NPP) to reproduction (carbon required for flowers, fruits, and seeds) is poorly quantified globally, despite its critical role in forest regeneration and a well-supported trade-off with allocation to growth. Here, we present the first global synthesis of a biometric proxy for forest reproductive allocation (RA) across environmental and stand age gradients from a compiled dataset of 824 observations across 393 sites. We find that ecosystem-scale RA increases ~60% from boreal to tropical forests.

Human seminal vesicles present basal release of epithelium-derived 6-nitrodopamine (6-ND) and this catecholamine potentiates noradrenaline-induced contractions. Since nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activation is a determining factor involved in 6-ND biosynthesis, this study aimed to investigate which NOS isoform is responsible for the 6-ND release in mouse isolated seminal vesicles (MISV). Male control, eNOS, NOS, iNOS, and e/n/iNOS mice were used.
