While efficacy is comparable, with some evidence favoring VSS for headache control, perioperative costs remain under-characterized due to reliance on reimbursement rates rather than actual expenditures.ObjectiveTo compare the perioperative cost of elective VSS and VPS for IIH, including outpatient workup and follow-up costs, using detailed institutional cost data.

How School Nurses Perceive Their Role in Addressing Student Mental Health Concerns.

To provide foundational information for the development of a training program to prepare school nurses to deliver a mental health focused SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment) approach, this study aimed to describe how school nurses perceive their role in addressing student mental health concerns and determine if these perceptions align with the components of SBIRT. We used content analysis to summarize open-ended survey responses of 38 school nurses to the question "What role do school nurses play in addressing student mental health?" Findings revealed 19 responses aligned with at least one component of SBIRT, one aligned with all three, and 30 focused mainly on forming trusting relationships with students. We conclude school nurses do not implement SBIRT in a systematic way but view its components as consistent with their role.

The purpose of this study is to identify 35-year trends in adult congenital heart disease (ACHD) heart transplant volume, transplant centers, patient characteristics, and longitudinal survival up to ten years. We performed a retrospective review of ACHD patients (≥18 years) who underwent heart transplantation (N = 2,297 transplants) between January 1, 1988, and December 31, 2022, using the United Network for Organ Sharing Database. Trends in transplant volume, transplant centers, patient characteristics, and longitudinal survival were analyzed.

Understanding preferences and decision-making regarding HIV prevention can help develop new programmes to meet their needs. We conducted semi-structured interviews with 26 transgender women and travesti sex workers in São Paulo, Brazil.

IntroductionDaratumumab is a therapeutic cornerstone of the management of multiple myeloma, exerting its anti-myeloma activity through targeting of the cell surface glycoprotein CD38 on plasma cells. While originally given intravenously, the subcutaneous formulation, daratumumab hyaluronidase injection (Dara SC), has been associated with non-inferior efficacy and lower infusion-related reaction rates (IRRs) in the treatment of multiple myeloma and light chain amyloidosis. A noted benefit of Dara SC is a short administration time; however, the optimal observation time post injection to ensure patient safety is unclear from the drug labeling.

The case for female autoandrophilia presented here uses both direct and indirect lines of evidence.

A review of the effect of SGLT2 inhibitors on clinical and glycemic outcomes in hospitalized patients: data from studies that included patients with diabetes.

Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) are a fairly new class of agents for diabetes that have demonstrated significant benefits in glycemic control and cardiovascular outcomes with outpatient use. The aim of this review is to provide an overview of the effect of SGLT2i use on glycemic control and clinical outcomes in the hospital setting.An electronic search of PubMed was conducted to analyze publications that assessed the inpatient use of SGLT2i and included patients with diabetes.

Housing insecurity is a key social determinant of a wide range of health outcomes, subject to large racial inequities, and with a likely sensitive period in childhood. Housing insecurity can manifest in multiple ways and change over time, but previous studies have primarily focused on single dimensions or a single time point. This study examines cumulative exposure to multiple forms of housing insecurity from birth to adolescence, overall, and by race in large US cities.

The fourth leading cause of cancer-related fatalities in the USA is pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), a particularly deadly illness that is resistant to immunotherapy. Maximum likelihood estimation of log-affine models using detailed-balanced reaction networks.

A fundamental question in the field of molecular computation is what computational tasks a biochemical system can carry out. In this work, we focus on the problem of finding the maximum likelihood estimate (MLE) for log-affine models. We revisit a construction due to Gopalkrishnan of a mass-action system with the MLE as its unique positive steady state, which is based on choosing a basis for the kernel of the design matrix of the model.

Nano-laminography with a transmission X-ray microscope.

Nano-laminography combines the penetrating power of hard X-rays with a tilted rotational geometry to deliver high-resolution, three-dimensional images of laterally extended, flat specimens that are otherwise incompatible with, or difficult to image using, conventional nano-tomography. In this work, we demonstrate a full-field, X-ray nano-laminography system implemented with the transmission X-ray microscope at beamline 32-ID of the upgraded Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory, USA. By rotating the sample around an axis inclined by 20° to the incident beam, the technique minimizes the long optical path lengths that would otherwise generate excessive artifacts when planar samples are imaged edge-on.
