Sodium percarbonate (SPC)-based advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) hold great promise for in-situ groundwater remediation. However, most existing studies have focused on the metal-carbon composite activation systems, facing the risk of secondary pollution from metal ion leaching. Herein, this study innovatively prepared metal-free carbonylated activated carbon (CAC) by regulating the conversion of oxygen-containing functional groups on carbon materials to activate SPC efficiently.

The 5th International Polar Year (IPY-5) in 2032-2033 represents an important next step in the legacy of the oldest continuous climate research program created by humanity, which intentionally began during a Solar Maximum with IPY-1 in 1882-1883, following the Little Ice Age. Current IPY-5 planning by the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) is "From IPY-4 to IPY-5" with scope since 2007-2008, considering relevant large-scale polar process, international activities and UN decades. Additionally, there are essential features to incorporate into IPY-5 planning with Indigenous knowledge as well as next-generation leadership along with international science connections across the United Nations, involving core integration of data system and Earth-Sun system research, which accelerated with the International Geophysical Year (IGY) in 1957-1958 that was renamed from IPY-3.

Environmental damage caused by colored effluents poses a threat to the environment, as vast amounts of harmful water contamination are regularly discharged into water sources. The hybrid nanocomposite was successfully synthesized using hydrothermal and thermal treatment methods. A prepared hybrid nanostructure metal composite material, utilizing gallic acid (GA@ZnO-AC), was synthesized and employed for the treatment of methylene blue (MB) in an aqueous environment via adsorption.

This protocol paper outlines a robust and reproducible framework for a H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) metabolomics analysis of rodent plasma, designed to facilitate preclinical biomarker discovery. The protocol details optimised steps for plasma collection in a preclinical rodent model, sample preparation, and NMR data acquisition using presaturation Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (PRESAT-CPMG) pulse sequences, ensuring high-quality spectral data and effective suppression of macromolecule signals. Comprehensive spectral processing and metabolite assignment are described, with guidance on multivariate and univariate statistical analyses to identify metabolic changes and potential biomarkers.

Autoimmune diseases are driven by dysregulated cytokine networks, where excessive cytokines such as TNF-α, IL-6, IL-17, and IL-23 promote chronic inflammation and tissue damage. While monoclonal antibodies effectively neutralise these cytokines, they face limitations including high production costs, glycosylation requirements, limited tissue penetration, and immunogenicity. Nanobodies; small, single-domain antibodies derived from camelids, offer a promising alternative due to their high stability, solubility, microbial expression, and low immunogenicity.

Background: Perinatal stroke is a leading cause of cerebral palsy and lifelong neurological disability and a potential risk factor for sleep-disordered breathing (SDB).
Methods: We examined the risk for SDB and associated psychosocial outcomes among 77 children with perinatal stroke. Caregivers completed validated questionnaires evaluating their children's sleep (Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire), mental health (Behavior Assessment System for Children, Third Edition [BASC-3]), and quality of life (Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory [PedsQL]) as well as the psychosocial impact on themselves (Parental Outcome Measure [POM]).

Despite big data analytics (BDA) capabilities have been increasingly recognized for their potential to improve sustainability, the underlying mechanisms by which BDA capabilities influence hospital environmental performance in the context of healthcare supply chains are not well understood. This paper aims to bridge this significant empirical void by examining the mediating effect of supply chain innovation, decision-making quality and risk-taking on the links between BDA capabilities and environmental performance for Chinese hospitals. Based on Stimulus-Organism-Response theory, the theoretical model depicts BDA capability as a key stimulus factor affecting the hospital sustainability outcomes.

Ar-turmerone, a major bioactive compound in , has been reported to exhibit anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, antifungal, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. This study investigated its interaction with human serum albumin (HSA) using spectroscopic, microscopic, and computational approaches to characterize its binding properties, which are crucial for its distribution and transport in the bloodstream. Fluorescence spectroscopy showed a 34% decrease in HSA fluorescence intensity at 90 μM ar-turmerone, accompanied by a 2 nm blue shift, suggesting a transition of the protein's fluorophores' microenvironment to a slightly nonpolar state.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains the most prevalent and lethal subtype of lung cancer, largely due to late diagnosis and therapeutic resistance. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive multi-omics analysis to characterize the pleckstrin homology domain-containing (PLEKHA) family gene in LUAD. Among the eight members, PLEKHA6 was uniquely overexpressed in LUAD tissues and significantly associated with poor prognosis.

Microglia, as the immune guardians of the central nervous system (CNS), have the ability to maintain neural homeostasis, respond to environmental changes, and remodel the synaptic landscape. However, persistent microglial activation can lead to chronic neuroinflammation, which can alter neuronal signaling pathways, resulting in accelerated cognitive decline. Phosphoinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) has emerged as a critical driver, connecting inflammation to neurodegeneration, serving as the nexus of numerous intracellular processes that govern microglial activation.
