Social skills assessment has become integral to childhood mental health evaluation and a target for interventions, especially among school psychologists. One popular multi-rater social skill instrument is the Social Skills Improvement System Rating Scales (SSIS-RS), which is designed to evaluate social skills, problem behaviors, and academic competence in children. While previous versions of the SSIS have been widely used in research and practice, including use with translations across multiple languages, few studies have examined the psychometric properties of the most recent iteration of the SSIS-RS with diverse populations.

Many microbial eukaryotes have unicellular life stages, but can also form multicellular colonies. We explored hydrodynamic consequences of colony morphology, which affects swimming and flux of prey-carrying water to cells in a colony, using the choanoflagellate, Choanoeca flexa, which forms cup-like colonies that can turn inside-out so flagella line the cup's interior or cover its outside surface. Detailed hydrodynamic models incorporating cell morphologies are not feasible for colonies with many cells.

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare, progressive cystic lung disease that primarily affects women of reproductive age. We report a case of a 35-year-old Caucasian female with a history of seasonal nasal allergies who presented to the emergency department with acute-onset shortness of breath and a chronic dry cough. The acute episode closely resembled a prior hospitalization one month earlier for spontaneous pneumothorax, which had been managed with a pigtail catheter.

Objective: The variability in the operationalisation of cardiovascular recovery from psychological stress across studies is well-established in the field but little is done to address these issues. The aim of this study was to establish the temporal stability of multiple computations of cardiovascular recovery already documented in the literature. Secondly, the aim was to determine if temporal stability depended on how recovery was computed.

In the presence of artificial oxidants, high-valent Co-X (X = O and NTs) complexes can be achieved in many different types of ligand structures. This paper reports, for the first time, the synthesis, spectroscopic and theoretical characterization, and reactivity of formally Co-(V) and Co-(IV) intermediates without the axial oxo or imido groups by using a strongly electron-donating ligand, PCAPD (PCAPD = bis-[2-(1H-pyrrol-2-carboxamido)--phenylenediamine). The formally Co-(V) complex was prepared by reacting [EtN][Co(PCAPD)-(Cl)] with iodosylbenzene (PhIO) as an artificial oxidant in acetone at -40 °C.

The lipid phosphatase Fig4 is conserved in all eukaryotes and is associated with human neurological diseases for which there are currently no specific therapies. Fig4 functions in both the production and turnover of its lipid substrate, PI3,5P2, through participation in the Fab1-Vac14-Fig4 complex with its opposing kinase Fab1. The molecular mechanisms through which Fig4 influences PI3,5P2 production are not fully understood but are believed to require Fig4 binding to the scaffold protein Vac14.

Characterization of the acid-base behavior and surface protonation state of atmospherically relevant organic acids is of key importance in our understanding of interfacial reactivity, as well as our ability to accurately model aerosol impact on climate. Here we investigate the protonation state of two medium-chain α-hydroxyacids, 2-hydroxyhexanoic acid (HHA) and 2-hydroxyoctanoic acid (HOA), at the air-water interface and in the bulk. The ratio of surface-deprotonated to surface-protonated species at varying pH was examined using surface tension titrations, finding an effective surface-p of 4.

Background: This study explored how health professionals construct clinical and psychological meaning based on the location of self-injury on the body, particularly in relation to concealed or visible injuries and how they might inform attributions about risk, self-injury functions, and distress.
Methods: This study used qualitative thematic analysis of semi-structured interviews with 19 health professionals with experience working with self-injury, exploring perceptions and attributions about self-injury in different body locations.
Results: Seven themes emerged.

Purpose: Topical menthol application improves thermal perception and enhances performance but reduces sweat production in hot environments. In the aquatic environment, where sweat evaporation is of limited thermoregulatory benefit (ie, minimal evaporation) and leads to dehydration and cardiovascular strain, downregulating thermoregulatory sweating may have little consequence. However, it may preserve hydration status and improve subsequent performance, especially in air (ie, after first transition in triathlon); we tested this hypothesis.

The current study aimed to test (1) the association between trait extraversion and cardiovascular reactivity to acute psychological stress, (2) the association between trait extraversion and religious/spiritual coping, and (3) whether the association between trait extraversion and cardiovascular reactivity to acute stress was mediated via greater religious and spiritual coping. A sample of 139 participants completed a cardiovascular reactivity protocol consisting of a resting baseline and stressor phase (serial subtraction task), with systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), mean arterial pressure and heart rate (HR) monitored throughout. Participants also completed self-reported measures assessing trait extraversion, as well as religious and spiritual coping.

Introduction: In an increasingly aging society, testing hippocampal-dependent cognition in a quick and low resource manner will be crucial in: assessing the potential benefits of lifestyle choices and interventions affecting cognitive ageing (such as those involving exercise, diet, and sleep); detecting pathological aging, such as in Alzheimer's disease, where hippocampal degeneration occurs relatively early on.
Methods: Over 300 participants aged 18-89 completed three cognitive tests, namely the Addenbrooke's Cognitive Examination-III (ACE-III), The Four Mountains Task (4MT), and a new task introduced here, the Spaces and Sequences Episodic Video Task (SSEVT). Hippocampal tissue is particularly vulnerable to aging, and the 4MT and SSEVT were designed to be hippocampal-dependent.

Ecosystem function and its evolution depend on the number of taxa and the amount of biomass. For the oceans, spatial and temporal trends in diversity are well known, and spatial variation in biomass within the modern ocean is increasingly documented. Temporal variation in biomass, by contrast, remains undocumented, leaving a crucial gap in our understanding of how the marine biosphere evolved over geologic time.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether juror characteristics, namely, age, attitudes surrounding coercive control and psychopathic personality traits (PPT), can influence Guilty or Not Guilty verdicts in a developed coercive control trial. One hundred and thirty-five participants (N = 135) completed an online survey consisting of elements of a mock coercive control trial and three questionnaires: the Coercive Control subsection of the Modern Adolescent Dating Violence Attitudes (MADVA (CC)) Scale, the Psychopathic Personality Traits Scale-Revised (PPTS-R) and the Juror Decision Scale (JDS). The results of the analysis demonstrated significant positive correlations between MADVA (CC) scores and all four subscales of the PPTS-R, highlighting the relationship between psychopathy traits and coercive control attitudes.
