There is a safe and effective vaccine to prevent vertical transmission that is recommended to be given as soon as possible after birth and within 24 hours.When a woman with HBV refuses the birth dose of HBV vaccine for her baby, infectious diseases and safeguarding teams are asked to provide urgent opinions on whether this crosses the threshold for triggering child protection mechanisms.

Background: Inflammatory injury in organ donors, particularly after brain death and during ischemia-reperfusion, contributes to graft dysfunction, rejection, and reduced survival. Statins, beyond their lipid-lowering role, exert pleiotropic anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, including IL-6 suppression, NF-κB inhibition, immune cell modulation, and potential alteration of exosome secretion.

Turtles are renowned for their extreme longevity and tremendous range in body size. Theoretically, large, long-lived organisms should face higher cancer risks because of increased cell numbers and lifetime cellular turnover, yet cancer appears to be exceptionally rare in turtles. In the present article, we synthesize the current knowledge on cancer prevalence in turtles, drawing from zoo necropsies, pathology reports, and comparative oncology studies, and present new data spanning additional species that reinforce this pattern.

Stage IV prostate cancer (PCa) refers to a disease that has metastasized beyond the prostate gland to distant sites, such as bones, visceral organs, or non-regional lymph nodes. While early attempts at curative therapy were occasionally made in oligometastatic cases, current guidelines uniformly recommend palliative-intent management once true metastatic spread is confirmed. Over the past decade, treatment paradigms have shifted from androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) monotherapy to earlier intensification with combination regimens including chemo-hormonal therapy and next-generation hormonal agents to improve survival and quality of life (QoL).

Background: Medical treatments have improved survival rates for paediatric brain tumour (PBT), but the condition and treatment continue to be associated with significant cognitive morbidity. Nearly all survivors will experience some degree of cognitive impairment (neurocognitive 'late effects') that has a cascading impact on the development of intellectual and academic skills, quality of life, mental health, vocational attainment, and functional independence. Longstanding cognitive fatigue is also a prevalent symptom for survivors of PBT and further impacts engagement with therapeutic interventions and quality of life.

Purpose: Hereditary Leiomyomatosis and Renal Cell Cancer (HLRCC) is a rare cancer susceptibility syndrome exclusively attributable to pathogenic variants in FH (HGNC:3700). This paper quantitatively weights the phenotypic context (PP4/PS4) of such very rare variants in FH.

The present cross-sectional study examined the chain mediating roles of spousal support and dyadic adjustment in the relationship between social media addiction and sexual functioning among 211 married women of reproductive age in Qazvin, Iran. Grounded in the Interpersonal Process Model of Intimacy, the study posited that excessive social media use displaces face-to-face interactions, thereby eroding emotional support and relational harmony, which are critical for sexual well-being. Participants completed validated measures assessing social media addiction, spousal support, dyadic adjustment, and sexual functioning through an online survey.

The human retina exhibits complex cellular heterogeneity which is critical for visual function, yet comprehensive ethnic-specific references are scarce in ophthalmic transcriptomics. The lack of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data from Asian populations particularly Chinese donors imposes significant limitations in understanding population-specific retinal biology.
