The non-invasive nature and potential for sustained release make transdermal drug administration an appealing treatment option for cancer therapy. However, the strong barrier of the stratum corneum (SC) poses a challenge for the penetration of hydrophilic chemotherapy drugs such as 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). Due to its biocompatibility and capacity to increase drug solubility and permeability, especially when paired with chemical enhancers, such as oleic acid (OA), which is used in this work, choline glycinate ([Cho][Gly]) has emerged as a potential substance for transdermal drug delivery.

A great deal of effort has been put into developing a novel and cost-effective molecular probe for selective and sensitive recognition of trace amounts of water in organic solvents due to their tremendous advantages in industrial, pharmaceutical, and laboratory-scale chemistry. Herein, a cost-effective chemosensor L has been designed and studied for the detection of trace amounts of water. The addition of water to the DMSO solution of L exhibited an enhancement of fluorescence emission at 460 nm along with a color change from green to colorless.

The facile detection of glutathione (GSH) and ovalbumin (OVA) is of great importance in biological research. Herein, a tetradentate Schiff base N, N'-bis(pyridoxal-5-phosphate)-o-phenylenediamine (L) obtained by condensing two moles of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) with one mole of 1,2-phenylenediamine was employed for the fluorescence switch-on detection of GSH and OVA. When excited at 389 nm, receptor L showed a weak emission at 454 nm in an aqueous medium.

Transdermal drug delivery systems (TDDS) are a promising and innovative approach for breast cancer treatment, offering advantages such as noninvasiveness, potential for localized and prolonged drug delivery while minimizing systemic side effects through avoiding first-pass metabolism. Utilizing the distinctive characteristics of hydrogels, such as their biocompatibility, versatility, and higher drug loading capabilities, in the present work, we prepared ionic hydrogels through synergistic interaction between ionic liquids (ILs), choline alanine ([Cho][Ala]), and choline proline ([Cho][Pro]) with oleic acid (OA). ILs used in the study are biocompatible and enhance the solubility of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU), whereas OA is a known chemical penetration enhancer.

A copper-catalyzed direct -Csp-H thiocyanation of free anilines has been developed. This method employs stable and non-toxic ammonium thiocyanate as a thiocyanation source, and -butyl hydroperoxide as the oxidant, enabling the synthesis of -thiocyanated anilines with good yields and broad substrate tolerance. Hitherto, no reports have been found in the literature for the -thiocyanation of aromatic amines, making this reaction an important breakthrough in synthetic organic chemistry.

The exceptional ascending heights of graphene (carbon) and boron nitride nanostructures have invited scientists to explore metal nitride nanomaterials. Herein, ZnN quantum dots (QDs) were prepared via a simple hydrothermal route from the reaction between zinc nitrate hexahydrate and ammonia solution that possess efficient strength towards sensing applications of metal ions (Cu and Mn). The as-prepared ZnN QDs show bright fluorescence, displaying an emission peak at 408 nm upon excitation at 320 nm, with a quantum yield (QY) of 29.

Self-assembly of ethylene oxide (EO)-propylene oxide (PO)-based star-shaped block copolymers (BCPs) in the presence of different kinds of additives is investigated in an aqueous solution environment. Commercially available four-armed BCPs, namely Tetronics® (normal: T904 with EO as the terminal end block; and reverse: T90R4 with PO as the terminal end block), each with 40%EO, are used. The effect of various additives such as electrolytes (NaCl and NaSO), nonelectrolyte polyols (glucose and sorbitol), and ionic surfactants ( anionic-sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), cationic-dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) and zwitterionic dodecyldimethylammonium propane sulfonate (CPS)) on these BCPs is examined to observe their influence on micellization behaviour.

The present study investigated the potential of a composite prepared from kaolinite clay and moringa seedcake in removing methylene blue (MB) and acid orange-7 (AO-7) dyes from aqueous solutions using batch and column tests. The composite was modified using different chemicals during the synthesis process, and the composites were characterised using different techniques such as FTIR, SEM-EDS and XRD. In this study, we introduce an economically viable and scalable process for developing a novel covalent organic framework (COF), which is a cross-linked polymer. The resulting material, TzTFB-COF, is successfully functionalized with silver and copper nanoparticles, which show high adequacy in the degradation of nitroaromatic compounds (NACs). For the synthesis of TzTFB-COF, s-tetrazine diamine (Tz) and 1,3,5-triformylbenzene (TFB) are chosen as building blocks, which exhibit a high density of nitrogen-containing sites.
