Unlabelled: Anelloviruses are part of the normal human viral flora. Although their diversity in humans has been investigated in many countries, and despite their initial detection in Thailand in 1999, knowledge of Thai anelloviruses remains very limited. This study analyzed 1,175 whole-genome sequencing data sets from Thai individuals to mine for potential anellovirus sequences.

N-Glycosylation critically influences the efficacy, safety and pharmacokinetic properties of biopharmaceuticals. Plant expression platforms offer multiple advantages for the production of N-glycosylated proteins, but their use is impeded by the presence of plant-specific N-glycan epitopes, which raise concerns of possible immunogenicity to humans. In this study, N-glycoengineered Nicotiana benthamiana plants that produce more homogeneous N-glycans without plant-specific epitopes were generated using multiplex CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing.

(GBS) is a rare cause of meningitis in healthy adults. We report the case of a healthy 33-year-old man with acute GBS meningitis who experienced relapsed high-grade fever and increased intracranial pressure following completing intravenous antibiotics. A short course of corticosteroids, along with additional antibiotics, improved the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) profile, and no further complications occurred after the recurrent episodes.

A rapid and automated determination of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) is proposed and applied to the evaluation of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency in real samples. To this end, a sequential injection analyzer with electrochemical detection (SIA-ECD) is proposed with 0.1 mol L Tris-HCl (pH 8.

Siriraj Upper Gastrointestinal Cancer Center, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok 10700, Thailand.

Gastric cancer with peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) remains a formidable challenge in oncological care, especially regarding surgical intervention. Integrating enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols into gastrectomy with cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy has emerged as a promising approach. This minireview explores the influence of ERAS on surgical and oncological outcomes in this multifaceted procedure.

Background: The association between diabetes mellitus (DM) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is well documented, with DM increasing the risk of developing MASLD and liver fibrosis.

Aim: To evaluate the cost-effectiveness and budget impact of transient elastography (TE) for detecting significant fibrosis in Thai patients with DM.

Methods: We conducted a lifetime cost-utility analysis from a societal perspective, combining a decision tree with a Markov model.

FIGO position statement on the effectiveness and safety of the HPV vaccine.

Int J Gynaecol Obstet

September 2025

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Cervical cancer, which is primarily caused by persistent infection with oncogenic high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) types, remains a substantial health problem with the highest incidence and mortality rates in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). HPV vaccination induces a robust immune response against the HPV types included in the vaccine and protects against subsequent development of cervical cancer precursors. Furthermore, countries with high vaccination coverage have observed a significant reduction in the incidence of cervical cancer.

Background: During puberty, sex-specific processes shape distinct mental health outcomes. However, research on puberty and psychosis has been limited, and the findings are conflicting.

Aims: To explore how puberty status and timing and oestradiol levels influence psychotic experiences and whether they interact with genetic and exposomic vulnerabilities to schizophrenia in female adolescents.

Previous literature showed that mental health conditions and substance use are prevalent in international migrant workers due to acculturation stress. Given the rapid increase in labour migration within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, this study aimed to conduct a meta-analysis of the pooled prevalence of mental health conditions and substance use among international migrant workers in ASEAN countries and to identify associated factors. We searched MEDLINE, PubMed, Scopus, and ASEAN Citation Index (ACI) for articles published in English between January 2010 and October 2023.

Background: The concept of "ownership" in global health policymaking broadly assumes that external donors and advisors expect recipient countries to actively steward their national programmes when assistance is provided. This study specifically explored country ownership of national policy decision-making for Plasmodium vivax malaria using three case studies: Laos, Pakistan and the Solomon Islands.

Methods: Yin's comparative case study model, Kingdon's Multiple Streams policy theory guided this analysis.

Growing environmental concerns over the extensive use of petroleum-based polymer packaging have spurred interest in the development of bio-based alternatives. In this work, the incorporation of tannic acid as a cross-linker into chitosan at concentrations of 0-60 wt% was explored. The resulting cross-linking between chitosan chains induced by tannic acid through hydrogen and Schiff-base covalent bonding was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and gel content measurements.
