Polyploidy, a conserved mechanism involved in normal development and tissue homeostasis, plays a paradoxical role in cancer by facilitating both tumor progression and therapeutic vulnerability. Although polyploidization may confer survival advantages to cancer cells, its controlled induction could represent an effective anticancer strategy. Aurora B kinase, a critical regulator of mitosis, plays a pivotal role in ensuring chromosomal integrity and preventing polyploidy.

Designing sustainable Flood Control Systems (FCSs) requires considering both the resiliency of the system and the long-term viability of investments. In this regard, our research aimed at integrating concepts of hydrological resiliency and cost-benefit analysis to design the most effective flood control network. To do so, first, the Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) was developed for simulating flood condition.

Background: Chronic constriction injury (CCI) of the sciatic nerve induces neuropathic pain, inflammation, oxidative stress, and neurodegenerative changes, impairing sensory and emotional function. While curcumin is well recognized for its anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties, its therapeutic use is limited by poor bioavailability. Curcumin liposomal nanoparticles (CLNs) offer improved delivery and stability.

Acetylesterase, produced by , plays a crucial role in deacetylating hemicellulose during pulp production. Thermostable variants of this enzyme, although rare, can significantly enhance industrial efficiency by retaining activity at high temperatures. This research aims to design a thermostable variant of acetylesterase from (EC 3.

In cardiovascular research, melatonin has shown promise in exhibiting antifibrotic properties and modulating endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. However, the exact mechanism by which it influences myocardial fibrosis has not been fully clarified. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate the inhibitory effect of melatonin on the progression of myocardial fibrosis through a mechanism involving the BIP/PERK/CHOP signaling pathway, both in silico and in vivo experimental models.

Anaerobic bacteria cause a wide range of infections, varying from mild to severe, whether localized, implant-associated, or invasive, often leading to high morbidity and mortality. These infections are challenging to manage due to antimicrobial resistance against common antibiotics such as carbapenems and nitroimidazoles. The empirical use of antibiotics has contributed to the emergence of resistant organisms, making the identification and development of new antibiotics increasingly difficult.

Background: Healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) pose a serious threat to healthcare systems. Accurately determining the incidence of HCAIs is crucial for planning and implementing efficient interventions, as they are associated with a wide range of challenges. The objective of this study was to assess and update the incidence rates of HCAIs in Iran in 2023, using data from the Iranian Nosocomial Infection Surveillance (INIS) system, a nationwide hospital-based surveillance program.

Background: Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related mortality worldwide. The tumor microenvironment (TME), particularly the interactions between endothelial cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), plays a pivotal role in promoting tumor growth, angiogenesis, oxidative stress, and therapy resistance. The HUVEC-fibroblast co-culture model closely mimics stromal-endothelial interactions observed in CRC, enabling mechanistic insights not achievable in monocultures.

Anal fissure causes pain and bleeding during or after bowel movements, significantly impacting individuals' quality of life. Current treatments aim to interrupt this cycle but have associated risks and limitations. The emergence of arginine, crucial for protein creation and nitric oxide (NO) production, presents an intriguing therapeutic avenue by the impact on reducing anal sphincter pressure and enhancing anoderm blood flow, due to its roles in vasodilation, anti-inflammatory responses, and collagen synthesis, which can promote wound healing and highlighting its potential as an alternative therapy.

Objective: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is linked to time perception deficits, with theories such as Scalar Expectancy Theory (SET) and Dynamic Attending Theory (DAT) offering different explanations. SET suggests time perception relies on a pacemaker-counter system influenced by working memory, whereas DAT highlights the role of attention in modulating time perception. This study examines the impact of attention, working memory, and motor response on time perception in children with ADHD.

Titanium dioxide (TiO) thin films were deposited on glass substrates under HV conditions at room temperature by the physical vapor deposition method. Produced titanium thin films were post-annealed at 573 K at different oxygen flows (0, 9 and 23 cm/s). The influence of different oxygen flows on nano-structure, crystallography, and optical parameters of TiO films was investigated by XRD, AFM, and spectrophotometer in the UV-VIS wavelength range.
