Background: While pegylated Escherichia coli asparaginase (PEG) is an integral component of leukemia and lymphoma treatment, hypersensitivity reactions (HSR) remain a common adverse event, often resulting in adjustments to the treatment regimen, increasing the burden on patients and families. HSR to asparaginase often indicates a transition to Erwinia asparaginase (ERW), which requires patients to return to the hospital 6 times for subcutaneous injections to replace one dose of IV PEG. Previous trials have demonstrated rates of HSR to pegylated E.

For over two decades, the EBMT has updated recommendations on indications for haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) practice based on clinical and scientific developments in the field. This is the ninth special EBMT report on indications for HCT for haematological diseases, solid tumours and immune disorders. Our aim is to provide guidance on HCT indications according to prevailing clinical practice in EBMT countries and centres.

Cadmium (Cd) pollution in rice agroecosystems has become a pressing worldwide environmental challenge. Straw return leads to Cd re-entering the soil, yet the impact of straw removal (SR) on Cd mobility and bioavailability within this system remains unclear. We implemented a four-season field study to evaluate how different SR intensities (NSR: no rice straw was removed; HSR: half of the rice straw was removed; TSR: all the rice straw was removed) influence Cd availability in this system.

Objectives: Recommendations regarding the use of third-trimester ultrasound lack universal consensus. Yet, there is evidence which supports its value in assessing fetal growth, fetal well-being, and a number of pregnancy-related complications. This literature review evaluates the available scientific evidence regarding its applications, usefulness, and the timing of the third-trimester scan in a low-risk population.

Introduction: Adverse reactions to iodinated contrast media (ICM) are very common due to its widespread use. Despite the fact that overall incidence of hypersensitivity reactions (HSRs) to ICM is low, the risk of severe outcomes needs a careful patient evaluation and management.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective epidemiological study that included patients referred to our Allergy Unit for suspected allergy to ICM in whom we carried out a protocolized allergic study based on skin and drug provocation tests (DPT).

Introduction: Taxanes, including paclitaxel, docetaxel, and cabazitaxel, are widely used anticancer agents that disrupt cell division by binding to microtubules, but are associated with significant adverse reactions, particularly infusion-related reactions (IRRs), such as flushing, urticaria, and respiratory symptoms. Despite premedication with steroids, antihistamines, and antiemetics per guidelines, taxane-induced side effects remain prevalent and can result in treatment delays or discontinuation, impacting patient outcomes. This study aimed to observe and document the incidence and spectrum of adverse reactions to taxanes among premedicated cancer patients to improve management and overall chemotherapy success.

Objective: To investigate discrepancies in Medicaid enrollees' hospital discharges reported in two data sources widely used in health services research: the CMS Hospital Cost Report Information System (HCRIS) and the T-MSIS Analytic Files (TAF).
Study Setting And Design: This is a descriptive study comparing inpatient discharges reported in the two data sets. We included inpatient admissions at general hospitals in 2020-2021.

Objective: To explore the experiences of providers from two community behavioral health agencies involved in the implementation of Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs).
Study Setting And Design: This qualitative study was conducted as part of a larger evaluation of CCBHC implementation outcomes in two community-based behavioral health agencies. Ninety-one participants, including case managers, counselors, care coordinators, and leadership teams from both agencies, participated in focus group discussions to share their experiences regarding the implementation of the CCBHC model within their organizations.

Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) data advances are becoming more common and more important across research fields given the large amount of research data in need of synthesis and application. Many novel methods improve the efficiency and accuracy of data reuse, combination, and synthesis, which is necessary given that there are over 500 published randomized controlled trials of posttraumatic stress disorder treatments in adults; however, these methods are still relatively new to the field of traumatic stress research. We provide a brief overview of relevant FAIR data efforts from other fields and within trauma health care and research; share examples of trauma-related FAIR data efforts to demonstrate recent advances and challenges; and suggest potential next steps to continue making trauma data more FAIR.

Machine learning (ML) could be useful in identifying reliable predictors of treatment response in affective and not affective psychoses, potentially helping to propose personalized interventions. In this systematic review and meta-analysis, we evaluated studies exploiting ML algorithms to predict the improvement of psychotic symptoms, cognition and quality of life in psychoses related to different treatments. We searched MEDLINE (PubMed), Web of Science, and PsycINFO databases updated until February 2024, identifying 64 articles published in English in peer-reviewed journals.

Objective: Develop a causal machine learning (causal ML) framework for estimating how a diagnosis (cancer in this study) affects the likelihood of receiving a specific health care service (advance care planning in this study) and associated heterogeneity.
Study Setting And Design: Our proposed framework leverages the causal forest method, combined with a population-weighted resampling and averaging over estimations strategy, to estimate average treatment effects (ATEs) and conditional average treatment effects (CATEs). Post hoc, we used best linear projections to identify covariates associated with variation in the CATEs.

Purpose: Cocaine-induced midline destructive lesions (CIMDL) represent a rare but severe consequence of intranasal cocaine abuse, occasionally progressing to skull base involvement with life-threatening complications. The aim of this manuscript is to describe an exceptional case of CIMDL with clival destruction and brainstem exposure, and to review current management strategies based on a systematic literature review.
Methods: We report a unique case of a 39-year-old woman with CIMDL extending to the clivus, resulting in encephalocele with basilar artery and brainstem exposure.

HMGB1, a multitasking protein, is scrutinized here through the lens of the 'fuzzy interactions' driven by its intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs). Although the multiple intracellular and extracellular functions of this protein have been studied for decades, viewing HMGB1 as fuzzy and dynamic provides a novel perspective. Recent breakthroughs emphasize the crucial role of its IDRs, especially the acidic C-terminal tail, in mediating dynamic multivalent interactions.
