Stubble-burning in northern India is an important source of atmospheric particulate matter (PM) and trace gases, which significantly impact local and regional climate, in addition to causing severe health risks. Scientific research on assessing the impact of these burnings on the air quality over Delhi is still relatively sparse. The present study analyzes the satellite-retrieved stubble-burning activities in the year 2021, using the MODIS active fire count data for Punjab and Haryana, and assesses the contribution of CO and PM from such biomass-burning activities to the pollution load in Delhi.

The ability of a chemical transport model to simulate accurate meteorological and chemical processes depends upon the physical parametrizations and quality of meteorological input data such as initial/boundary conditions. In this study, weather research and forecasting model coupled with chemistry (WRF-Chem) is used to test the sensitivity of PM predictions to planetary boundary layer (PBL) parameterization schemes (YSU, MYJ, MYNN, ACM2, and Boulac) and meteorological initial/boundary conditions (FNL, ERA-Interim, GDAS, and NCMRWF) over Indo-Gangetic Plain (Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan) during the winter period (December 2017 to January 2018). The aim is to select the model configuration for simulating PM which shows the lowest errors and best agreement with the observed data.

The paper aims to propose a futuristic educational and learning framework called CO-MATE (Collaborative Metaverse-based A-La-Carte Framework for Tertiary Education). The architectural framework of CO-MATE was conceptualized in a four-layered approach which depicts various infrastructure and service layer functionalities. CO-MATE is a technologically driven educational metaverse environment involving loosely coupled building blocks to provide an a-la-carte model for platform designers.

The POTE family comprises 14 paralogues and is primarily expressed in Prostrate, Placenta, Ovary, Testis, Embryo (POTE), and cancerous cells. The prospective function of the POTE protein family under physiological conditions is less understood. We systematically analyzed their cellular localization and molecular docking analysis to elucidate POTE proteins' structure, function, and Adaptive Divergence.

The mass concentrations of PM were measured at a tropical megacity, Bengaluru, India, for the year 2015. The mean mass concentrations showed large fluctuations on day to day basis with values less than the Indian National Ambient Air Quality Standard (INAAQS) of 60 µg m. The observed annual mean mass concentration of 28 ± 11 µg m is also within the INAAQS value of 40 µg m.

Currently, all the approved medications are to treat the symptoms but there is no clinically approved treatment for the cure or to prevent the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Earlier reports suggest the use of small molecules and peptides to target and destabilize the amyloid fibril.

The COVID-19 precautions, lockdown, and quarantine implemented throughout the epidemic resulted in a worldwide economic disaster. People are facing unprecedented levels of intense threat, necessitating professional, systematic psychiatric intervention and assistance. New psychological services must be established as quickly as possible to support the mental healthcare needs of people in this pandemic condition.

Rapid infrastructure development, increased population, shift in land use practices and higher vehicular emissions have all influenced Ozone (O ) production through its precursor gases in southern megacity, Bengaluru, India. We have investigated the photochemistry using hourly measurements of O and associated precursor gases conducted in Bengaluru during January to December 2019. The rate of formation of O is analyzed for Bengaluru for the first time using a photochemical model involving NOx cycle.

The conventional paper-based system for malaria surveillance is time-consuming, difficult to track and resource-intensive. Few digital platforms are in use but wide-scale deployment and acceptability remain to be seen. To address this issue, we created a malaria surveillance mobile app that offers real-time data to stakeholders and establishes a centralised data repository.

Objectives: MC1R polymorphisms have been reported to be under a selective constraint in populations inhabiting high UVR regions such as Africans; however, these patterns are not consistent. Here we analyze the MC1R gene in West Maharashtra, India to see if sequence diversity corresponds to their diverse pigmentary profiles and if MC1R is constrained in dark skinned tribal as compared to lighter skinned caste populations.
Methods: A 2648 bp region of this gene was sequenced in 102 individuals and the data was compared for π, ϴ diversity indices.

Bengaluru, also considered India's Silicon Valley, has seen steady growth in population over the years. Bengaluru's rapid development has resulted in dwindling reservoirs, increased traffic congestion, high levels of air pollution, and, to some measure, a rise in summer temperatures. As a result of these changes in urban form over the last decade, anthropogenic heat fluxes for ozone production have increased.

A quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) sensor was developed in this study with the vegetable oil from olive (OLV-QCM) to detect an important volatile organic compound, β-pinene in Indian cardamom. Hydrophobic vegetable oil from olive, which contains oleic acid and omega-9, a monounsaturated fatty acid was found to be suitable for binding β-pinene through non-covalent bonds. The fabricated QCM sensor coating was examined with the field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to determine its surface morphology and chemical compositions.

Efficient analysis of Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) across genomic samples enable in deciphering the relationship between genotype and phenotype. The core principle behind SNP comparison is to arrive at a probable list of variants that can differentiate two sets of data (populations). Such SNPs have direct applications in array design, genotype imputation and in cataloging of variants in regions of interest.

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer in women all over the world and accounts for ~25% of newly observed cancers in women. Epigenetic modifications influence differential expression of genes through non-coding RNA and play a crucial role in cancer regulation. In the present study, epigenetic regulation of gene expression by in-silico analysis of histone modifications using chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing (ChIP-Seq) has been carried out.

We report on the development of a simple and cost-effective potentiometric sensor array that is based on manual "drawing" on the polymeric support with the pencils composed of graphite and different types of zeolites. The sensor array demonstrates distinct sensitivity towards a variety of inorganic ions in aqueous media. This multisensor system has been successfully applied to quantitative analysis of 100 real-life surface waters sampled in Mahananda and Hooghly rivers in the West Bengal state (India).
