Background: Vibrio cholerae can endure harsh environmental conditions by transitioning into viable but non-culturable (VBNC) form and resuscitate upon return of appropriate conditions.

Method: In this study, we assessed the impact of physicochemical and microbiological factors, on the development of low temperature-induced VBNC state and subsequent recovery by temperature upshift.

Results: In estuarine water, Vibrio cholerae exhibits a slower decline in culturability over a period of 77 days as compared to 10 days in fresh water.

Carbon dots (CDs) derived from sustainable natural feed-stocks like lignin have gained wide acceptance by virtue of their renewability and promising potential in intelligent sensing applications. The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate the transdermal patch formulations of nifedipine. The patch formulations containing nifedipine were prepared and optimized with different ratios of vinyl and cellulose-derived polymers, drug contents, and permeation enhancers. Among the various formulations, the patch formulation containing a 1:5 ratio of ethyl cellulose and polyvinyl pyrrolidone was selected for pharmacokinetic study based on permeation studies using stratum corneum of the pig's skin.

The unique properties of biosurfactants obtained from microbes, including their activity at extreme temperatures, make them more attractive than synthetic alternatives. Asymmetric scaffolds were developed through electrospinning by utilizing biocompatible materials for effective wound healing applications. First of all, the chitosan surface was modified with decanoyl chloride and crosslinked with collagen to synthesize collagen crosslinked modified-chitosan (CG-cross-CS--Dc). The acceptorless dehydrogenative coupling (ADC) of primary alcohols to esters by diazabutadiene-coordinated ruthenium compounds is reported. Treatment of -Ru(dmso)Cl in acetone at 56 °C with different 1,4-diazabutadienes [-XCHN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(H)(H)C[double bond, length as m-dash]NCHX-; X = H, CH, OCH, and Cl; abbreviated as DAB-X], gives -Ru[κ-,-DAB-X]Cl as the kinetic product of substitution. Heating these products in -xylene at 144 °C gives the thermodynamically favored -Ru[κ-,-DAB-X]Cl isomers.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) predominantly considered a metabolic disease is now being considered an inflammatory disease as well due to the involvement of meta-inflammation. Obesity-induced adipose tissue inflammation (ATI) is one of the earliest phenomena in the case of meta-inflammation, leading to the advent of insulin resistance (IR) and T2DM. The key events of ATI are orchestrated by macrophages, which aggravate the inflammatory state in the tissue upon activation, ultimately leading to systemic chronic low-grade inflammation and Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) through the involvement of proinflammatory cytokines.
