In India, breast cancer is the most common cause of mortality for women and has the potential to spread to other body organs. As a transcription factor, interactions with the estrogen receptor (ER) alpha are primarily responsible for the development of malignant tumors. Aromatase inhibitors are the most often used treatment for ER(+) breast cancer.

Alongside oral delivery of therapeutics, transdermal delivery systems have gained increased patient acceptability over past few decades. With increasing popularity, novel techniques were employed for transdermal drug targeting which involves microneedle patches, transdermal films and hydrogel based formulations. Hydrogel forming ability along with other rheological behaviour makes natural polysaccharides an attractive option for transdermal use.

However, the viruses rapidly develop resistance against these analogues which demand safer, more efficient, and nontoxic antiviral agents. We have synthesized two non-nucleoside amide analogues, 2-Oxo-2H-chromene-3-carboxylic acid [2-(pyridin-2-yl methoxy)-phenyl]-amide () and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde-(4-pyridine carboxylic) hydrazone ().

Over time, the structure and function of the broadly dispersed colonization factor (CF) CS6 of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) have become more significant. CS6 is composed of tightly-associated subunits, CssA and CssB which due to presence of natural point mutation gave rise to CS6 subtypes. In contrast to the other ETEC CFs, CS6 is an afimbrial, spherical-shaped oligomers of (CssA-CssB) complex where 'n' is concentration dependent.

Background: Huntington's disease is an inherited autosomal dominant trait neuro-degenerative disorder caused by changes (mutations) of a gene called huntingtin () that is located on the short arm (p) of chromosome 4, CAG expansion mutation. It is characterized by unusual movements, cognitive and psychiatric disorders.
Objective: This review was undertaken to apprehend biological pathways of Huntington's disease (HD) pathogenesis and its management by nature-derived products.

Vibrio parahaemolyticus can degrade insoluble chitin with the help of chitinase enzymes that generate soluble N-acetyl glucosamine oligosaccharides (GlcNAc) to induce a state of natural competence for the uptake of extracellular DNA. In this study, we had evaluated the role of various regulatory factors such as TfoX, CytR, OpaR, and RpoS during natural transformation of V. parahaemolyticus.

The degradation of polymeric chitin by chitinase liberates soluble N-acetyl glucosamine oligosaccharides (GlcNAc), a source of nutrition that can also induce a state of natural genetic competence in . This analysis revealed that among seven predicted chitinases, the synergistic action of VPA0055 (ChiA2), VP0619 (ChiB), and VPA0832 (Cdx) were essential for the robust growth and high transformation frequency on chitin. The endochitinase, ChiA2, and periplasmic chitinase, Cdx were indispensable for chitin degradation.

The therapeutic potential for messenger RNA (mRNA) in infectious diseases and cancer was first realized almost three decades ago, but only in 2018 did the first lipid nanoparticle-based small interfering RNA (siRNA) therapy reach the market with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of patisiran (Onpattro™) for hereditary ATTR amyloidosis. This was largely made possible by major advances in the formulation technology for stabilized lipid-based nanoparticles (LNPs). Design of the cationic ionizable lipids, which are a key component of the LNP formulations, with an acid dissociation constant (pKa) close to the early endosomal pH, would not only ensure effective encapsulation of mRNA into the stabilized lipoplexes within the LNPs, but also its subsequent endosomal release into the cytoplasm after endocytosis.

In this work, a novel electrochemical immunosensor based on nitrogen doped graphene quantum dot (N-GQD) and single-walled carbon nanohorns (SWCNHs) was developed for the detection of α-fetoprotein (AFP), a cancer biomarker. Thus, to fabricate the platform of the immunosensor, nanocomposite architecture was developed by decorating N-GQD on the surface of the SWCNHs. The resulting hybrid architecture (N-GQD@SWCNHs) functioned as an exceptional base for the immobilization of antibody (Anti-AFP) through carbodiimide reaction with good stability and bioactivity.

Although optical coherence tomography (OCT) parameters have assisted in the diagnosis of polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV), its potential to evaluate treatment outcomes has not been established. The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate baseline OCT parameters that may influence treatment outcome in PCV eyes with combination therapy. In this single-centered, prospective study, patients were recruited with at least one treatment-naïve PCV eye and treated with combination therapy of intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor and photodynamic therapy.

The objective of this study was to compare visual parameters and retinal layers' morphology pre-treatment (baseline) and 6 months post-treatment in polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) eyes. A single centre, longitudinal, prospective study was conducted at a public tertiary hospital of Malaysia. Visual parameters including distance and near visual acuity (DVA and NVA), contrast sensitivity (CS), reading speed (RS), and different qualitative and quantitative optical coherence tomography (OCT) parameters were evaluated pre- and 6 months post-treatment.

In early and intermediate age related macular degeneration (ARMD), visual acuity alone has failed to explain the complete variation of vision. The aim of the present study was to determine correlation between different visual functions and retinal morphology in eyes with early and intermediate ARMD. In this single center cross sectional study, patients diagnosed as early or intermediate ARMD in at least one eye were recruited.

In this study, porous fluorescent nanocrystalline erbium doped hydroxyapatite (eHAp) was synthesized via hydrothermal assisted co-precipitation method. Eucalyptus oil (EU), frankincense oil (FO), Tea tree oil (TTO), wintergreen oil (WO) were successfully absorbed into eHAp pellet by vacuum filtration technique using Buckner funnel. Phase crystallization, fluorescence property and microstructure of eHAp were confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Photoluminiscence spectroscopy (PL) and Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM).
