The safety of tranexamic acid (TXA) in patients with recent coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infection undergoing major arthroplasty remains unclear. We aimed to evaluate whether TXA increases thromboembolic risk in post-COVID-19 patients undergoing major arthroplasty. Using the TriNetX database, we identified patients aged ≥50 years who underwent total knee or hip arthroplasty with documented COVID-19 within 3 months prior to surgery.

Single coronary ostium and intramural coronary artery variations in patients with transposition of the great arteries significantly increase the mortality and morbidity after arterial switch operation (ASO). In these patients, the classic coronary button implantation may cause kinking or twisting of the coronary artery which can cause coronary insufficiency. This case series presents two patients, a 15-month-old girl with transposition of the great arteries and a 10-month-old boy with a Taussig-Bing anomaly.

Common pulmonary vein atresia (CPVA) is a rare congenital heart disease characterized by the absence of functional connectivity between the pulmonary vein and any other heart cavity or systemic venous structure. A 13-h-old newborn (G3P3) was admitted to the department of pediatrics of a local maternity hospital and given tracheal intubation ventilator for assisted breathing due to systemic cyanosis, respiratory distress, and poor response 4 h after birth. He was transferred to Handan Maternal and Child Health Hospital 7 h after birth.

Background: Acinetobacter seifertii, a recently identified member of the Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-Acinetobacter baumannii (Acb) complex, has emerged as a cause of severe human infections.
