Article Abstract

Objective: Depression places a significant burden on older people, and some studies have found that certain lifestyles are associated with depressive symptoms. This study aimed to observe the relationship between integrated lifestyles and depressive symptoms from the perspective of dynamic change.

Method: The data for this study comes from the China Health and Longevity Longitudinal Survey (CLHLS) conducted in three waves in 2011-2012, 2014, and 2017-2018. Group-based trajectory analysis was used to determine the healthy lifestyle trajectory. Then, the relationship between the trajectory and depressive symptoms was explored using the polynomial logistic regression model. Additionally, network analysis was used to calculate the expected influence (EI) of depressive symptoms between the two trajectories and to compare whether there was a difference between the two network structures.

Results: This study identified two trajectories: the declining healthy lifestyle group (52.18 %) and the consistently unhealthy lifestyle group (47.82 %). In the fully adjusted model, the odds ratio for depressive symptoms was 0.693 (95 % CI: 0.552-0.869) for the declining healthy lifestyle group compared with the consistently unhealthy lifestyle group. There was no significant difference in the network structure model between the two trajectory groups, but their core symptoms were different.

Conclusions: A long-term integrated healthy lifestyle reduces the risk of depressive symptoms. Adopt different intervention measures for the core symptoms of different lifestyle groups.

The effectiveness of interventions to support informal stroke carers: a systematic review.

Disabil Rehabil

September 2025

Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychological Therapies, Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK.

Purpose: Stroke affects one in four adults in the UK, with over a third relying on informal carers. The burden of care can have detrimental effects on the mental and physical health of carers, which may impact the rehabilitative process. Despite this, interventions have focused on the physical demands of caregiving, prioritising the stroke survivor.

The adolescent mental health crisis is compounded by a shortage of mental health services, which mobile health apps may alleviate. We assessed the feasibility and acceptability of the Wysa app (a commercially available app containing cognitive behavioral therapy-based digital modules and an artificial intelligence-based conversational agent) among 13- to 18-year-old adolescents recruited from a primary care clinic in New York City and online from March to June 2022. We assessed adolescent engagement in the Wysa app over a 3-week period.

Research suggests that household social risks are associated with worse mental health in adolescents, but prior studies have been limited. We evaluated the association between social risks and symptoms of depression and anxiety in adolescents 1 year later by conducting a retrospective cohort study at an integrated health system with 45 practices. Adolescents were screened for depression using the Patient Health Questionnaire-2 (PHQ-2) and anxiety using the Generalized Anxiety Disorder-2 (GAD-2).

Background: Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) has been thought to increase the risk of respiratory depression from opioids. The primary aim of this study was to assess whether preoperative hypoxaemia by sleep study pulse oximetry imparts greater opioid sensitivity.

Methods: A multicentre observational cohort study with in-cohort dose randomisation was performed in children 2-8 yr of age with OSA undergoing adenotonsillectomy.

Background And Aims: Dynapenic abdominal obesity has been shown as a risk factor for adverse outcomes. There is no evidence on the longitudinal association of this condition with different courses of depressive symptoms. This study aimed to investigate the association of dynapenic abdominal obesity status with the risk of distinct trajectories of depressive symptoms.
