Article Abstract

Considering the ubiquitous presence and hazardous effects of fluoroquinolone antibiotics (FQs), developing efficient methods for their detection has become imperative to safeguard human health. In this work, we synthesized a porous organic cage-based novel hyper-cross-linked polymer bearing multiple amino moieties (denoted as Cage-HCP-NH) through knitting and reduction of nitro-functionalized organic cage. The Cage-HCP-NH exhibits high porosity (0.258 cm g) and big specific surface area (255 m g). Benefiting from unique cage architecture and synergistic interactions of hydrogen bonding, π-π stacking, and F-π and F-O interactions, Cage-HCP-NH demonstrated remarkable FQs adsorption capacity (730 mg g). Employing Cage-HCP-NH as a solid-phase extraction adsorbent coupled with ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, we developed a sensitive method for simultaneous detection of five FQs in pork matrices. Under the optimized conditions, the method achieves ultralow detection limits (0.015-0.060 ng g), high precision (relative standard deviation <9%), and good accuracy (method recoveries between 85% and 110%). The integration of cage architectures with functional groups opens new avenues for designing advanced functional materials targeting emerging contaminants.

Precision in controlling the microenvironment of nanospaces is a potent strategy for exploring architecture‒function relationships. Herein, a face-capped tetrahedral cage, featuring Pd‒Pd-bonded vertices, with a tailored nanospace surrounded by 12 ethyl units, was facilitated to adaptively accommodate a library of guests with different sizes and shapes, including C6 cyclic hydrocarbons, adamantane derivatives, S and P. This nanocavity can achieve strong binding with cyclohexane in non-aqueous media in contrast to reported structurally similar non--functionalized cages by an increase of four orders of magnitude.

Porous organic cages (POCs) have emerged as promising porous materials for a wide range of applications. However, their development is often limited by insufficient chemical stability and challenges in systematically functionalization. Herein, we reported the design and synthesis of a tetrazine-based POC (TC1) featuring rigid tetrahedral structure, prepared via a one-pot nucleophilic aromatic substitution reaction.

This study evaluated the effects of raising systems and diet types on growth performance, carcass characteristics, pH content, fatty acid profiles and meat quality in Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica). A total of 608 seven-day-old quail chicks were arranged in a 2 × 2 factorial design, with two raising systems (cage and free-range) and two diet types (conventional and organic). The experiment employed a completely randomized design with four treatments, four replicates per treatment, and 38 birds per replicate.

Enantioselective Incorporation of Amine Fragments onto Quaternary Carbons via Metallaphotoredox Catalysis.

The enantioselective construction of quaternary carbon stereocenters bearing amine functionalities represents a significant challenge in organic synthesis despite their prevalence in pharmaceutically active compounds. Herein, we report a versatile metallaphotoredox platform for the asymmetric incorporation of amine fragments onto quaternary carbons via coupling of alkene-tethered aryl bromides with readily available α-silylamines. This transformation proceeds under mild conditions without requiring organometallic reagents or stoichiometric reductants.

Porous metal-organic polyhedra (MOPs) have strong covalent and coordinate bonds that define the intrinsic pore of the cage. The intermolecular interactions between cages tend to be weaker, such that they rearrange during the solvent exchange process preceding gas sorption measurements. The reduction in crystal size that this often causes limits the availability of structural data that could enable understanding of observed gas uptake.
