The large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea) is a key aquaculture species, yet gaps in high-quality genomes hinder studies of centromeric and adaptive evolution. This study presents two telomere-to-telomere (T2T), gapless genomes from the Min-Yuedong (MYD) and Daiqu (DQ) populations, which diverged 4.18Â million years ago. The centromeres are characterized by a 42Â bp tandem repeat (Cen-42) and invasions by endogenous retrovirus 1 (ERV1) of long terminal repeat (LTR) elements. Both populations exhibit transcriptional activity in centromeric regions, but display significant divergence in gene number and composition, likely driven by rapid population expansion and selective pressure. In addition, 5S ribosomal RNA genes form ultra-large tandem repeat clusters in the short-arm regions of more than 10 chromosomes. The T2T genome assemblies resolve previously unassembled regions, identifying 533 and 351 new genes in T2T-MYD and T2T-DQ, respectively. Four population-specific structural variations, located in pla2g4a, eno2, ptprb, and itrp3 are identified. Comparative genomic analyses highlight distinct adaptive features between the two populations, including differences in metabolic efficiency, arachidonic acid metabolism, chemosensasory function, and circadian rhythm. Collectively, these findings deepen the understanding of L. crocea evolution and provide valuable genomic resources for its conservation and breeding.

The closely related cytokines Interleukin-4 (IL-4) and IL-13 regulate the Th2 immune response by interacting with their specific receptor complexes. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) modulate various biological pathways through mechanisms that either repress mRNA translation or promote messenger RNA degradation. The miRNA miR-126b is implicated in fish embryonic development.

As a member of the inflammatory caspases, Caspase-1 can increase the host inflammatory response against pathogen invasion and also function dominantly in apoptosis. In this study, we cloned and obtained two transcripts of Caspase-1 in large yellow croaker (Larimichthys crocea), namely Lc-Caspase-1_tv1 and Lc-Caspase-1_tv2. The ORF of Lc-Caspase-1_tv1 is 1,239 bp, whereas Lc-Caspase-1_tv2 is 1,167 bp in length, encoding a protein of 412 and 388 aa, and both of which contains a CARD and a CASc domain.

Dissolved oxygen (DO) is a key water quality indicator reflecting river health. Modeling and understanding the spatiotemporal dynamics of DO and its influencing factors are crucial for effective river management. Machine learning (ML) models have gained popularity in water quality prediction; however, their accuracy strongly depends on the predictor variables.

For lumbar spinal canal stenosis, endoscopic spine surgery typically employs a unilateral approach. While this approach has the advantage of early access to the lamina, it risks damage to the facet joint on the entry side. Additionally, decompression of the ipsilateral lateral recess can be challenging, sometimes resulting in inadequate decompression laterally, leading to incomplete symptom relief.

Large-scale underground coal mining alters regional water cycles, yet the mechanisms governing interactions among water bodies in deep mining areas are poorly understood. For this purpose, by integrating hydrogen and oxygen isotopes, water levels, hydrogeological conditions, and end-member mixing analysis (EMMA), this study systematically analyzed and quantified the circulation and transformation mechanisms among different water bodies influenced by coal mining. Key findings reveal: (1) Mining-induced fractures disrupt the aquitard above the coal seam, establishing a direct hydraulic link between Zhiluo Formation confined groundwater and mine water, with the former contributing 87.
