Article Abstract

A new phenylacetic acid, methoxy-graphislactones C (1), a new anthraquinone (1'E)-6,8-di-O-methyl averanti (2), a new phenanthrene derivative, 12-methyl entonaemin A (3) and five previously reported compounds (4-8) were isolated from the fermented extracts of the mangrove endophytic fungus Aspergillus sp. HMGh1-1. The structures and absolute configurations of the new compounds were determined by spectroscopic techniques (high-resolution mass spectrometry, NMR), ECD calculations, and single-crystal X-ray analysis. Compounds 1-8 were screened for insecticidal activity against Diaphorina citri Kuwayama, and compound 3 exhibited significant insecticidal activity, with a corrected efficacy of 90.97 %.

Background: As one of the most destructive and invasive pests for various plants in China, Spodoptera frugiperda (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) poses an enormous threat to food security and results in serious economic losses for harvesting and consumption of agricultural vegetables. To this end, indoxacarb has shown great promise as an effective insecticide against Spodoptera frugiperda. It is metabolized by insect esterases or amidases into the N-decarbomethoxy metabolite (DCJW), which is a key metabolite responsible for the insecticidal activity of indoxacarb.

Background: Long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) are the main vector control tools and remain protective against malaria, even in the presence of high pyrethroid resistance. However, in sub-Saharan Africa, the estimated percentage of the population sleeping under LLINs is low. Hence, this qualitative study was conducted to explore perceptions about LLINs and the reasons for low LLIN use in southern Ethiopia.

Environmental changes due to global warming and human activities have negatively impacted malaria vector control in Hadiya zone, Ethiopia. Plants contain anthraquinoes. Flavonoids, glycosides, phenol, saponin, steroids, tannin, and terpenes that are target specific, rapidly biodegradable, ecofriendly, and less toxic to human health.

Background: Bacillus thuringiensis Cry toxins are well known for their insecticidal properties, primarily through the formation of ion-leakage pores via α4-α5 hairpins. His178 in helix 4 of the Cry4Aa mosquito-active toxin has been suggested to play a crucial role in its biotoxicity.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the functional importance of Cry4Aa-His178 through experimental and computational analyses.

Tralopyril (TP), a representative bromopyrrolonitrile, functions as a broad-spectrum insecticide, raising growing concerns about its potential impact on aquatic organisms and human intestinal health. However, the key targets and toxicity mechanisms underlying TP-induced enteritis remain unclear. In this study, we utilized network toxicology combined with molecular docking to comprehensively explore the potential molecular mechanisms underlying TP-induced enteritis.
