Article Abstract

Previous studies, which explored the mechanisms of urbanization filtering based on species traits and assessed the roles of different traits in facilitating the adjustments of different species to urbanization, often yield inconsistent results, highlighting the need to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms underlying urbanization filtering. Here, we conducted field surveys of breeding bird communities in the capital cities of 34 Chinese provinces and categorized species as either urban utilizers or avoiders based on their occurrence rate among regional species pools. Bayesian phylogenetic generalized linear mixed model was used to investigate potential trait associations between urban utilizers and urban avoiders. To investigate the relative effects (measured by the model coefficients) of urbanization filtering across different environmental gradients, we incorporated the model coefficients of each trait as the response variables with city-specific environmental characteristics as predictors to construct linear mixed models. We found that urban utilizer birds exhibited greater behavioral innovation and broader habitat ranges than urban avoider birds. Additionally, we observed that the filtering effects of urbanization on different traits exhibited significant variations, showing gradients in latitude, altitude, and artificial night light intensity. This variation along geographic gradients could potentially elucidate the inconsistent findings reported in previous work on bird adaptation to urban environments. Our findings highlight the context-dependent nature of urbanization filtering effects and contribute to a better understanding of the impact of urbanization on urban bird communities.

Understanding the stability and assemblage of biofilm microbiomes under oligotrophic conditions is critical for improving groundwater bioremediation. In this study, a novel microbial electrochemical filter (MEF) was developed to explore the impact of weak electrical stimulation on functional adaptability of biofilms under oligotrophic and 1,4-dioxane exposure conditions. Under 20 mg/L 1,4-dioxane stress, the MEF achieved 94.

Antipyretic analgesics are typical pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) that are widely used in our daily life because they relieve fever and pain, and have anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic properties. These drugs inhibit the synthesis and release of prostaglandins (PGs) in the neurons of the anterior hypothalamus and exert therapeutic effects as a consequence. However, these drugs are relatively commonly misused and abused, often owing to a lack of proper medication guidance.

In this research, we have proposed a novel anomaly detection algorithm for processing hyperspectral images (HSIs), called the Graph Attention Network-Beta Wavelet Graph Neural Network-based Hyperspectral Anomaly Detection (GAN-BWGNN HAD). This algorithm treats each pixel as a node in a graph, where edges represent pixel correlations and node attributes correspond to spectral features. The algorithm integrates spatial and spectral information, utilizing graph neural networks to identify nonlinear relationships within the image, thereby enhancing anomaly detection precision.

Background: Indoor microbial communities play a critical role in influencing indoor environmental quality and human health and are shaped by occupant activity, surface characteristics, and environmental conditions. While previous studies have examined these factors individually, systematic evaluations of their combined interactions, particularly involving Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and drainage systems, remain limited. This controlled, long-term (1.
