This report presents an 89-year-old patient with subacute subdural hematoma (SDH) treated with local anesthesia via burr-hole trephination (BHT) and subdural drain placement, followed by liquefaction of the hematoma using the fibrinolytic agent, tissue plasminogen activator (tPA). Initially, the patient presented with acute post-trauma SDH without neurological symptoms, for which conservative treatment was administered. About a week later, the patient developed hemiplegia and progressed to a stuporous state. Radiographic evidence indicated that the subacute SDH had evolved into a chronic stage with an increased mass effect, causing new neurological deficits. Although craniotomy was considered, general anesthesia was not performed at the caregiver's request. After BHT, a subdural catheter was placed, but initial drainage was minimal. tPA was then administered to promote liquefaction and drainage. Follow-up computed tomography of the brain confirmed significant drainage of the hematoma. The patient subsequently recovered consciousness and motor function. This report discusses a less-invasive alternative for managing symptomatic subacute SDH. My approach of combining BHT with fibrinolytic therapy using tPA facilitated effective evacuation of the hematoma with minimal surgical intervention. Here, I present a case where tPA was used, detailing the methodology, imaging findings, and clinical outcomes of fibrinolytic therapy.

Endovascular mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is a recommended treatment for acute ischemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion (LVO). The objective of the present study was to evaluate the impact of vascular risk factors on the outcome of MT outcomes in patients with stroke with LVO and to determine the prevalence of structural epilepsy in these patients. This was a retrospective cohort study involving patients with stroke between 20 and 80 years of age with LVO who underwent MT.

To evaluated the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) in improving laryngeal mucosal wound scar healing in vivo and investigated its underlying mechanisms. Laryngeal mucosal wounds were induced in Sprague-Dawley rats. Two weeks post-injury, PDT was administered via intraperitoneal injection of 100 mg/kg 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA) and 635-nm red laser irradiation at varying energy doses (15, 30, and 45 J/cm²).

Methods: This retrospective study analyzed clinical data from 632 AIS patients who received alteplase treatment at our hospital between September 2019 and October 2023. After applying strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 172 patients were included in the analysis: 35 patients in the DVT group and 137 patients in the non-DVT group.

Objective: To evaluate whether plasma levels of placental extracellular vesicles (pcEVs), the EV-scavenging factor lactadherin, and prothrombotic markers predict fetal growth restriction (FGR) and/or fetal distress (FD) in established severe pre-eclampsia (sPE).
Methods: We recruited 80 sPE patients, 41 normal pregnancies, and 27 non-pregnant women. SPE patients were further dichotomized into event and non-event groups based on the occurrence of FGR/FD during a follow-up period of 77 days.

Enolase-1 (ENO1) is a moonlighting protein with multiple functions. When expressed on the cell surface, ENO1 binds plasminogen (PLG) and promotes cell migration by facilitating plasmin (PLM)-mediated extracellular matrix degradation. Here, we observed that inflammatory stimulation significantly upregulated ENO1 expression on the neutrophil surface, both in vitro and in vivo.
