Article Abstract

The copper(I)-catalyzed silyl conjugate addition to α-substituted α,β-unsaturated --butanesulfinyl ketimines presents a facile approach for the synthesis of acyclic β,β-disubstituted enesulfinamides. By varying the ligand associated with the copper catalysts, it is feasible to selectively produce multisubstituted enesulfinamides with either ()- or ()-configuration, thereby facilitating their effective use in the stereoselective nucleophilic reactions to construct less accessible acyclic quaternary or tetrasubstituted stereocenters, encompassing both absolute configurations.

Effects of the (Trialkyl)ammonium Structures in (Ammonio)amidyl Groups on π-Electron Donating Ability and Thermal Stability: Experimental and Computational Study.

Chem Pharm Bull (Tokyo)

August 2025

The (ammonio)amidyl (AA) groups, with the general structure of RNN-, represent a new class of π-electron-donating groups for the benzene-based π-conjugated molecules. This study investigated AA-substituted p-nitrobenzenes to assess the effects of acyclic, monocyclic, and bicyclic ammonium structures in the AA groups on the π-electron-donating ability and thermal stability of the structure. Quantum chemical calculations were performed that supported the experimentally observed favorable properties of the (quinuclidinio)amidyl (QA) group.

Background: Clinical data on patients infected with influenza B Victoria (BV) after the approval of baloxavir is lacking.

Methods: This observational study of the Japanese 2023-2024 influenza season analyzed data from 25 outpatients with A(H1N1)pdm09, 36 with A(H3N2), and 65 with BV. Viral samples were collected before and after administering an antiviral (70 patients received baloxavir and 56 received a neuraminidase inhibitor), on days 1, 5, and 10.

A cell-surface ectonucleotidase CD39 mediates the conversion of extracellular adenosine triphosphate into immunosuppressive adenosine with another ectonucleotidase CD73. The elevated adenosine in the tumor microenvironment attenuates antitumor immunity, which promotes tumor cell immunologic escape and progression. Anti-CD39 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), which suppress the enzymatic activity, can be applied to antitumor therapy.

Hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) connected with electrospray high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry (MS) was used for the analysis of unusual amino acid (AA) substituted phosphatidylglycerols (PG) and cardiolipins (CL) in mesophilic and thermophilic bacteria. Individual peaks from the lipid class separation by HILIC were isolated and hydrolyzed to determine the absolute configuration of the aminoacyl side chain. The configuration of the aminoacyl side chain was assigned by indirect liquid chromatography (LC) enantiomer separation after the hydrolysis of the aminoacylated (aminoacyl) lipids using N-(4-nitrophenoxycarbonyl)-l-phenylalanine 2-methoxyethyl ester as chiral derivatizing agent and reversed phase LC-MS for analysis.

The C-Terminal Domain of RNase H and the C-Terminus Amino Acid Residue Regulate Virus Release and Autoprocessing of a Defective HIV-1 Possessing M50I and V151I Changes in Integrase.

Previously, we reported that an HIV-1 variant containing Met-to-Ile change at codon 50 and Val-to-Ile mutation at codon 151 of integrase (IN), HIV(IN:M50I/V151I), was an impaired virus. Despite the mutations being in IN, the virus release was significantly suppressed ( < 0.0001) and the initiation of autoprocessing was inhibited; the mechanism of the defect remains unknown.
