Glufosinate-ammonium (GLA) is a broad-spectrum herbicide widely used for weed control. However, its potential toxic effects on non-target aquatic organisms, especially in freshwater ecosystems, are of growing concern. This study investigates the toxic effects of GLA on , a freshwater snail highly sensitive to environmental pollutants and commonly used as a model organism in toxicological studies. Acute toxicity tests revealed that the 96-h LC50 of GLA for adult snails was 3.77 mg/L, indicating moderate toxicity, while the LC50 for embryos was 0.01576 mg/L, indicating extremely high toxicity. Chronic exposure experiments further showed that at high concentrations (0.5 mg/L), the shell diameter and body weight of the snails not only failed to increase but also decreased, and they ceased to lay eggs. Moreover, their hepatopancreas and gonads suffered significant damage. Even at an environmentally relevant concentration of 0.05 mg/L, the body length, body weight, and reproductive capacity of the snails were inhibited, and damage to the hepatopancreas and gonads was observed. These findings provide important data for assessing the potential risks of GLA to aquatic ecosystems and offer a scientific basis for formulating environmental protection policies and optimizing herbicide usage standards.

Lead-free electroceramics have attracted significant research interest as alternatives to lead-containing systems due to concerns related to lead's toxicity to human health and the environment. Solid solutions based on bismuth sodium titanate (BNT) and barium titanate (BT), particularly those with compositions near the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB), such as 0.94 BiNaTiO-0.

Resistance-conferring mutations in the androgen receptor (AR) ligand-binding pocket (LBP) compromise the effectiveness of clinically approved orthosteric AR antagonists. Targeting the dimerization interface pocket (DIP) of AR presents a promising therapeutic approach. In this study, we report the design and optimization of -(thiazol-2-yl) furanamide derivatives as novel AR DIP antagonists, among which was the most promising candidate.

The present study carried out the first systematic review with meta-analysis on the effects of metals and temperature rise individually and their associations with terrestrial invertebrates. Initially, a systematic review of peer-reviewed articles was performed. Meta-analysis demonstrated that metals negatively affected the fitness of annelids, arthropods, and nematodes and positively affected physiological regulation in annelids.

Micro- and nanoplastics (MNPs) are emerging contaminants increasingly recognized for their environmental and health implications. While surface water systems have been extensively studied, the presence, behavior, and impacts of MNPs in groundwater remain underexplored, despite its critical role as water source worldwide. The findings in this review highlight that agricultural activities, particularly plastic mulches, pesticides containers, fertilizer bags, greenhouses, are major sources of MNP.
