A strain release cycloaddition has been developed that exploits intermediate azirines formed via irradiation with blue LEDs. Subsequent cycloaddition with pyrones afforded novel aza-heterocycles (13 examples, 42%→66% yields). A variety of substituents were tolerated. Computational analysis suggests a kinetically favored -[4 + 2]cycloaddition that occurs from the least sterically encumbered face of the azirine. Distortion/interaction analysis suggests that the energetic penalty associated with azirine deformation is the primary factor contributing to the observed selectivity.

Background: A modified pull-through approach represents a promising treatment strategy to access tumors in the posterior oral cavity. The design of the wedge osteotomy plays a key role in preserving postoperative mechanical stability while enabling surgical access. However, the optimal osteotomy design to reduce fracture risk remains unclear.

Smart hydrogels have advanced rapidly in recent years. However, systems responsive to a single stimulus are typically triggered by specific cues, limiting their adaptability in complex and dynamic biological environments. To overcome this limitation, this study developed a dual-responsive hydrogel sensitive to both temperature and mechanical stress.

Seven plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) were isolated from extracts of surface-sterilized Sedum alfredii Hance. Among the seven isolates, the strain SaRB5 identified as Stenotrophomonas maltophilia through 16S rDNA sequence analysis, exhibited highest levels of heavy metal resistance and plant growth-promoting traits. SaRB5 tolerated high concentrations of cadmium (Cd) (1.

Contagious bovine pleuropneumonia (CBPP), caused by subsp. (Mmm), is a devastating cattle disease with high morbidity and mortality, threatening cattle productivity in Sub-Saharan Africa and potentially in parts of Asia. Cross-border livestock trade increases the risk of CBPP introduction or reintroduction.

Rationale: This study reports a rare case of both AA amyloidosis and elderly-onset Still disease presenting as fever following carpal tunnel syndrome surgery.
Patient Concerns: A 79-year-old man reported numbness, pain, and muscle weakness in his right hand for several months.
Diagnoses: We performed carpal tunnel opening surgery and a synovial biopsy because of significant synovial tissue in the carpal tunnel.
