Visual Place Recognition (VPR) constitutes a pivotal task in the domains of computer vision and robotics. Prevailing VPR methods predominantly employ RGB-based features for query image retrieval and correspondence establishment. Nevertheless, such unimodal visual representations exhibit inherent susceptibility to environmental variations, inevitably degrading method precision. To address this problem, we propose a robust VPR framework integrating RGB and depth modalities. The architecture employs a coarse-to-fine paradigm, where global retrieval of top-N candidate images is performed using fused multimodal features, followed by a geometric verification of these candidates leveraging depth information. A Discrete Wavelet Transform Fusion (DWTF) module is proposed to generate robust multimodal global descriptors by effectively combining RGB and depth data using discrete wavelet transform. Furthermore, we introduce a Spiking Neuron Graph Matching (SNGM) module, which extracts geometric structure and spatial distance from depth data and employs graph matching for accurate depth feature correspondence. Extensive experiments on several VPR benchmarks demonstrate that our method achieves state-of-the-art performance while maintaining the best accuracy-efficiency trade-off.

Drug-induced immune thrombocytopenia (DITP) is a rare but life-threatening condition characterized by a sudden and serious drop in the number of platelets from drug-dependent antibodies against platelet glycoproteins. We report the case of a 57-year-old man who developed severe thrombocytopenia and mucocutaneous bleeding following a short course of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) for presumed tick-borne disease. The patient experienced bleeding gums, pinpoint rashes, bruising, and extreme fatigue.

This study investigated the learning strategy preferences of 11-month-old APP/PS1 double transgenic (Tg) mice, a well-established murine model of Alzheimer's disease (AD). APP/PS1 Tg and non-Tg control mice were serially trained in visual and hidden platform tasks in the Morris water maze. APP/PS1 Tg mice performed poorly in visual platform training compared with non-Tg mice but performed as well as non-Tg mice in hidden platform training.

Adolescence is a period of heightened neuroplasticity and vulnerability to environmental insults, including drug exposure. In this study, we investigated the short- and long-term behavioral effects, as well as the long-term hippocampal effects, of chronic cocaine administration during adolescence, along with the potential neuroprotective role of insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) in male C57BL/6J mice. Over 21 days, mice received daily intraperitoneal injections of saline, cocaine, IGF2, or a combination of cocaine and IGF2.

Electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) methods have been widely used in clinical diagnosis. Although ECL peptide-based biosensors continue to grow with good sensitivity and signal flexibility, little emphasis has been placed on the effect of the peptide sequence on ECL sensitivity. We herein studied the nuanced effects of different peptide sequences on the analytical performance of ECL peptide-based biosensors for matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) assay, in which [(pbz)Ir(DMSO)Cl] (pbz = 3-(2-pyridyl)benzoic acid) was used as the ECL emitter while a specific peptide was used as the molecular recognition element.
