What Is Already Known About This Topic?: The electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) market in China has been gradually expanding. Substantial evidence indicates that e-cigarettes pose considerable health risks to the human body.
What Is Added By This Report?: The prevalence of e-cigarette ever use among Beijing residents aged ≥15 years ranged from 5.7% to 8.6% during 2016-2023, while current use ranged from 1.6% to 2.7%, with both metrics peaking in 2021. Current smokers who had attempted to quit within the past year showed the highest odds of e-cigarette use.
What Are The Implications For Public Health Practice?: The public are not fully aware of the academic and clinical controversies regarding e-cigarettes' effectiveness for smoking cessation and may underestimate their health risks. There is an urgent need for targeted knowledge campaigns and for the provision of more accessible smoking cessation services.

Background: Assisted vaginal birth is a lifesaving procedure where health workers use special devices to expedite birth vaginally when some complications emerge, such as due to prolonged labor. When the use of assisted vaginal birth is possible and appropriate, it provides benefits over cesarean section. These benefits include shorter recovery, reduced hospital stays, lower risks of complications, cost savings, and greater likelihood of vaginal birth in future pregnancies.

While the cancer genome is well-studied, the nongenetic exposome of cancer remains elusive, particularly for regionally prevalent cancers with poor prognosis. Here, by employing a combined knowledge- and data-driven strategy, we profile the chemical exposome of plasma from 53 healthy controls, 14 esophagitis and 101 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients, and 46 esophageal tissues across 12 Chinese provinces, integrating inorganic, endogenous, and exogenous chemicals. We first show that components of the ESCC chemical exposome mediate the relationship between ESCC-related dietary/lifestyle factors and clinic health status indicators.
