Article Abstract

Zirconium-based metal-organic frameworks (Zr-MOFs) have received great attention due to their abundant structural diversity and controllable functionalizations. However, pentacarboxylic acid-based Zr-MOFs are less studied. Herein, we report a new pentacarboxylic acid-based organic linker, 4″,4‴″,4‴‴″-((4-(4,5-bis(4-carboxyphenyl)-1-imidazol-2-yl)phenyl)methanetriyl)tris(([1,1':4',1″-terphenyl]-4-carboxylic acid)), which has been successfully employed to construct a Zr-MOF, HIAM-4055 (HIAM = Hoffmann Institute of Advanced Materials). HIAM-4055 features a rarely reported (5,10)-c underlying net. Nanosized HIAM-4055 can be used as a chemical sensor for dichromate detection in aqueous solution with high stability and excellent sensitivity and selectivity.

Background: The induction of oxidative stress (OS) in host cells by antibiotics (ATBs) such as ciprofloxacin (CIP) and chloramphenicol (CMP) is associated with their side effects. Flavonoids such as quercetin (Q) and luteolin (LT) could counteract the harmful effects related to OS induced by ATBs.

Purpose: The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of CIP and CMP alone and plus Q and LT on ROS production, endogenous antioxidant defenses [superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT)], and protein oxidation (PO) on human leukocytes, evaluating the protective action of Q and LT on the toxicological effects of CIP and CMP.

This work presents a novel dual-headspace microfluidic paper-based analytical device (μPAD) designed for simultaneous determination of sulfite and ethanol in wine. The device integrates two independent headspace chambers, each tailored for gas-phase separation and selective sensing of the target analyte. This design enables both analytes to be determined in a single sample drop without cross-interference, using distinct detection strategies in parallel.

Background: Skin aging causes various immunological and structural changes and increases the risk of many skin diseases such as contact dermatitis.

Objective: Our aim was to share the allergen contact dermatitis sensitivities of the elderly population with the European baseline series (EBS) results.

Materials And Methods: Patients aged 65 years and older who were patch tested with EBS in the immunology and allergy clinic between January 1, 2018, and March 1, 2025, were included in the study.

The elimination of absorbance of excess dye by selective oxidation was first proposed for analytical methods using the formation of ion-association complexes (IAs). On this basis, a new sensitive and selective spectrophotometric method for the determination of phosphate in the form of the IA of 11-molybdovanadophosphate with diindodicarbocyanine (DIDC) was developed. Symmetric diindodicarbocyanine and diindotricarbocyanine dyes can be completely oxidized by sufficiently strong oxidizing agents such as permanganate, dichromate, cerium (IV), and vanadate.
