Article Abstract

The top quark mass is a key parameter of the standard model, yet measuring it precisely at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is challenging. Inspired by the use of standard candles in cosmology, we propose a novel energy correlator-based observable, which directly accesses the dimensionless quantity m_{t}/m_{W}. We perform a Monte Carlo study to demonstrate the feasibility of the top mass extraction from Run 2, 3, and High-Luminosity LHC datasets. Our resulting m_{t} can be defined in a well-controlled short-distance mass scheme and exhibits remarkably small uncertainties from nonperturbative effects, as well as insensitivity to parton distribution functions, outlining a roadmap for a record precision measurement at the LHC.

Objective: Eukaryotic elongation factor 1 gamma (EEF1G) has emerged as a potential prognostic marker in various malignancies. Yet, its association with breast cancer (BC) prognosis, particularly in the context of body mass index (BMI) status, remains unexplored. Therefore, we investigated the prognostic value and role of EEF1G in BC across different BMI categories.

An ongoing goal of top-down mass spectrometry is to increase the performance for larger proteins. Using higher energy activation methods, like 193 nm ultraviolet photodissociation (UVPD), offers the potential to cause more extensive fragmentation of large proteins and thereby yield greater sequence coverage. Obtaining high sequence coverage requires confident identification and assignment of fragment ions, and this process is hampered by spectral congestion and low signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) of the fragment ions.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: The high mortality rate associated with severe influenza partly results from delayed initiation of antiviral therapy and subsequent cytokine storms. Jiuwei Qianghuo Decoction combined with Zhuye Shigao Decoction (JZF) has been clinically prescribed to prevent the progression to a more severe illness in influenza treatment. However, the precise mode of action and active components have not yet been elucidated.

There is a lack of longitudinal data on type 2 diabetes (T2D) in low- and middle-income countries. We leveraged the electronic health records (EHR) system of a publicly funded academic institution to establish a retrospective cohort with longitudinal data to facilitate benchmarking, surveillance, and resource planning of a multi-ethnic T2D population in Malaysia. This cohort included 15,702 adults aged ≥ 18 years with T2D who received outpatient care (January 2002-December 2020) from Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Introduction: Age related hearing loss is in the top ten contributors to the global burden of disease and one of the largest modifiable risk factors for age-related dementia. However, awareness of the consequences of untreated hearing loss is poor and many adults do not seek hearing assessment. Despite World Health Organisation recommendations, no EU country currently has a national adult screening programme.
