Using the W Boson as a Standard Candle to Reach the Top: Calibrating Energy-Correlator-Based Top Mass Measurements.

The top quark mass is a key parameter of the standard model, yet measuring it precisely at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is challenging. Inspired by the use of standard candles in cosmology, we propose a novel energy correlator-based observable, which directly accesses the dimensionless quantity m_{t}/m_{W}. We perform a Monte Carlo study to demonstrate the feasibility of the top mass extraction from Run 2, 3, and High-Luminosity LHC datasets.

Nonperturbative Effects in Energy Correlators: From Characterizing Confinement Transition to Improving α_{s} Extraction.

Energy correlators provide a powerful observable to study fragmentation dynamics in QCD. We demonstrate that the leading nonperturbative corrections for projected N-point energy correlators are described by the same universal parameter for any N, which has already been determined from other event shape fits. Including renormalon-free nonperturbative corrections substantially improves theoretical predictions of energy correlators, notably the transition into the confining region at small angles.

Minimum 5-year follow-up results and functional outcome of rotating-platform high-flexion total knee arthroplasty: A prospective study of 701 knees.

Background: To evaluate the midterm clinical outcome, functional outcome, associated complications, and survivorship of high-flexion posterior-stabilized rotating-platform total knee arthroplasty.

Methods: We prospectively analyzed 701 knees in 501 patients, who underwent total knee arthroplasty using high-flexion posterior-stabilized rotating-platform prosthesis. Patients were assessed preoperatively and postoperatively for their ability to kneel, do full squats, do half squats, and sit cross-legged by using a patient-administered questionnaire.

Despite the eradication of smallpox from the world in 1980 the osteo-articular sequelae of smallpox are still occasionally noticed in previously endemic areas. The sequelae of osteomyelitis variolosa may raise a diagnostic challenge to the untrained eyes of the surgeon. We present a case of "osteomyelitis variolosa" in a 70 years old patient.

Introduction: Alkaptonuria is a very rare inborn error of amino acid metabolism due to deficient homogentisic acid (HGA) oxidase enzyme leading to accumulation of HGA in plasma, cartilage, other tissues of human body and its excretion in urine. It has both systemic and peripheral signs and symptoms. Though low back is a common symptom of alkaptonuria but, in the absence of ochronosis it is rare.

Tophus of the Pubis Bone: A Case Report.

Introduction: Chronic tophaceous gout classically occurs after 10 years or more of recurrent polyarticular gout. However, tophi can also occur as first sign of the disorder.

Case Report: We report the case of a 60 year female with tophaceous involvement of the pubis bone which is an unusual location for this type of pathology without any prior manifestation of gouty arthritis.

High-flexion posterior-stabilized total knee prosthesis: is it worth the hype?

High-flexion knee prosthesis was introduced with the aim of obtaining higher degree of flexion and good survivorship in patients with high functional demands or those requiring squatting, kneeling, etc., which is more common in Asians. Based on all the research and experience with this prosthesis, it was concluded that high flexion designs meet the need of deeper degrees of flexion in selected sets of patients only.

Traumatic Fracture in a patient of Osteopoikilosis with Review of Literature.

Introduction: Osteopoikilosis or osteopathia condensans disseminata is a rare hereditary autosomal dominant sclerosing bone dysplasia. Patients are usually asymptomatic and the diagnosis is usually made incidentally on radiographs which show presence of symmetric, multiple, well defined, small ovoid areas of increased radiodensity clustered in peri-articular osseous regions with propensity for epiphyseal and metaphyseal involvement. There are no increased risks of pathological fracture in a case of osteopoikilosis and traumatic fracture healing in a case of osteopoikilosis is similar to fracture occurring in other normal patients.

Source apportionment and spatial-temporal variations in the metal content of surface dust collected from an industrial area adjoining Delhi, India.

Surface dust collected during three different seasons from Faridabad industrial area adjoining Delhi is studied for different metals, their spatial and temporal variations, and sources. Al, Fe, Mn, Ti, Ca and Mg show limited variations and lower abundances compared to Upper Continental Crust (UCC); Fe shows enrichment and seasonal changes. Cd, V, Co, Ba, Ti, Ni, Cu, Cr and Zn show significant spatial and temporal variations, and enrichments compared to UCC indicate their anthropogenic sources.

The role of taxanes in the management of gastroesphageal cancer.

Upper gastrointestinal cancers commonly referred to as gastroesophageal carcinomas encompass cancers of the esophagus, stomach and gastroesophageal junction.
