Kudzu's invasive nature has contributed to its classification as a weed, as it frequently outcompetes native plant species, leading to extensive overgrowth. Efforts to control kudzu have proven challenging, with moderate success using physical or biological agents. In this study, we evaluated the effects of two such control agents, ultraviolet C radiation and , to significantly increase the production of tuberosin, a phytoalexin isoflavone. Our findings demonstrate that estrogenic activity of tuberosin is cell-type-dependent, displaying antagonist or competitive inhibition when combined with 17-β-estradiol in the estrogen receptor (ER) positive cell lines MCF-7 and T-47D, while showing dose-dependent agonist activity in HEK293 cells transfected to express both ER receptors (α and β). Tuberosin was shown to modulate ER pathways, alter ER-mediated gene expression, and increase cell proliferation in a dose-dependent manner while maintaining expression of the ERα protein. Binding affinity and docking simulations confirmed tuberosin binding to the ERα pocket in a similar but weaker manner compared to synthetic estrogen. Tuberosin-treated endothelial cells suppressed vascular network assembly and maturation without affecting the cellular proliferative capacity. The presented studies leverage current kudzu management methods to naturally produce tuberosin, examine cell-type-specific effects, and support further investigation as an antiestrogen for breast cancer treatment.

Hormonal status and lymphatic invasion are two important prognostic factors among cases of breast cancer. This study aims to assess and evaluate the hormonal receptor status and lymph node involvement among female breast cancer patients in Duhok city, Kurdistan region, Iraq. A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted, involving 156 diagnosed cases of breast cancer who had undergone surgical treatment and laboratory investigations at Azadi Teaching Hospital and Duhok Private Hospital for 30 months.

Recent research has shown that KATP channels in mouse taste bud cells enhance glucose taste signaling by depolarizing the cell when ATP is present. Relatedly, estradiol has been shown to enhance glucose sensing in human pancreatic β cells via closure of KATP channels. Since taste tissue has estradiol receptors, we linked these two observations and tested whether elevated estradiol may also enhance taste sensitivity and liking for glucose in humans.

This study examined the effects of 24R,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (24R,25(OH)D) in estrogen-responsive laryngeal cancer tumorigenesis in vivo, the mechanisms involved, and whether the ability of the tumor cells to produce 24R,25(OH)D locally is estrogen-dependent. Estrogen receptor alpha-66 positive (ER+) UM-SCC-12 cells and ER- UM-SCC-11A cells responded differently to 24R,25(OH)D in vivo; 24R,25(OH)D enhanced tumorigenesis in ER+ tumors but inhibited tumorigenesis in ER- tumors. Treatment with 17β-estradiol (E) for 24 h reduced levels of CYP24A1 protein but increased 24R,25(OH)D production in ER+ cells; treatment with E for 9 min reduced CYP24A1 at 24 h and reduced 24R,25(OH)D production in ER- cells.

Background: Multiple myeloma (MM) remains a formidable clinical challenge due to its high relapse rate and resistance to existing therapies. Estrogen-related receptor gamma (ERRγ), a nuclear receptor critical for cellular energy metabolism, has been implicated in various cancers. but its role in MM remains unclear.

Background: Breast cancer remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among women worldwide, with significant geographic disparities in its impact. While human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-targeted therapies, such as trastuzumab, have improved outcomes for HER2-positive breast cancer, challenges like therapy resistance persist, highlighting the need for novel treatments. Recent developments in antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), particularly disitamab vedotin (RC48), show promising efficacy in targeting both HER2-positive and HER2-low expression tumors, warranting further investigation through real-world studies to assess its broader clinical applicability.
