Article Abstract

Rh-catalyzed enaminone directed cascade C-H functionalization/2-fold annulation with vinylcyclopropanes has been accomplished to afford functionalized tetrahydrobenzo[]isochromen-10-ones. The sequential C-H/C-C functionalization, C-C/C-O bond formation, redox-neutral conditions, functional group tolerance, and late-stage modification of the natural products are important practical features.

Achieving precise intratumoral accumulation and coordinated activation remains a major challenge in nanomedicine. Photothermal therapy (PTT) provides spatiotemporal control, yet its efficacy is hindered by heterogeneous distribution of PTT agents and limited synergy with other modalities. Here, we develop a dual-activation nanoplatform (IrO-P) that integrates exogenous photothermal stimulation with endogenous tumor microenvironment (TME)-responsive catalysis for synergistic chemodynamic therapy (CDT) and ferroptosis induction.

Heat stroke-induced central nervous system injury: Mechanisms and therapeutic perspectives.

J Therm Biol

September 2025

Department of Critical Care Medicine, the First Medical Cener, Chinese PLA General Hospital, Beijing, 100853, China. Electronic address:

Heat stroke (HS), a life-threatening heat-related disorder, is characterized by a rapid elevation of core body temperature exceeding 40 °C, accompanied by central nervous system (CNS) dysfunction and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). With the escalating impact of global warming, the incidence of HS has risen progressively, posing a significant threat to global health. The CNS is one of the primary target organs in HS, and its injury mechanisms involve intricate interactions among inflammatory cascades, oxidative stress, programmed cell death, and blood-brain barrier (BBB) disruption.

Fibrotic scarring remains a critic obstacle to axonal regeneration after spinal cord injury (SCI). Current strategies primarily concentrating on eliminating extracellular matrix (ECM) components neglect their dispensable roles in maintaining tissue integrity. Here, it is reported that the mechanical strength of an integrated hydrogel composed of hyaluronic acid-graft-dopamine and HRR peptide directs fibroblast migration, determining ECM deposition.

Background: Sodium homeostasis is crucial for physiological balance, yet the neurobiological mechanisms underlying sodium appetite remain incompletely understood. The nucleus tractus solitarii (NTS) integrates visceral signals to regulate feeding behaviors, including sodium intake. This study investigated the role of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 (HSD2)-expressing neurons in the NTS in mediating sodium appetite under low-sodium diet (LSD) conditions and elucidated the molecular pathways involved, particularly the cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP)/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling cascade.

Extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) is a therapeutic procedure that is increasingly recognized for its efficacy in treating immune-mediated diseases, including transplant rejection. Its main mechanism is ex vivo apoptosis induction in leukocytes from patients by incubation with 8-methoxypsoralen and irradiation with ultraviolet A light. The process involves DNA cross-linking, which leads to a cascade of events within the cell and ultimately to apoptosis induction.
