Purpose: To experimentally evaluate the change in radial diffusivity with diffusion time ( ) as a simple estimate of axon diameter.
Methods: Ex vivo ferret spinal cords were imaged via MRI and scanning electron microscopy. Region-of-interest comparisons were made between and area-weighted mean axon diameter, , derived from scanning electron microscopy. Additional comparisons were made between and quantitative MRI myelin metrics.
Results: A strong linear correlation was found between and . Negative correlations were found between myelin water fraction and as well as bound pool fraction and .
Conclusion: The value of is shown to be a good estimate of axon size in ex vivo spinal cords regardless of variations in myelin content, as indicated by quantitative MRI.

Introduction: The vulnerability of white matter (WM) in acute and chronic moderate-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) has been established. In concussion syndromes, including preclinical rodent models, lacking are comprehensive longitudinal studies spanning the mouse lifespan. We previously reported early WM modifications using clinically relevant neuroimaging and histological measures in a model of juvenile concussion at one month post injury (mpi) who then exhibited cognitive deficits at 12mpi.

Hydrogen energy is pivotal for driving sustainable development and achieving deep decarbonization; yet, its storage remains a significant challenge. Notably, depleted methane reservoirs can serve as a promising large-scale solution for underground hydrogen storage (UHS). Based on adsorption experiments, Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics methods, the adsorption behavior of H and CH in anthracite and the applicability of five models were discussed.

Purpose: Gadoxetic acid-enhanced hepatobiliary phase T-weighted (Tw) MRI is effective for the detection of focal liver lesions but lacks sufficient T contrast to distinguish benign from malignant lesions. Although the addition of T, diffusion, and dynamic contrast-enhanced Tw imaging improves lesion characterization, these methods often do not provide adequate spatial resolution to identify subcentimeter lesions. This work proposes a high-resolution, volumetric, free-breathing liver MRI method that produces colocalized fat-suppressed, variable Tw images from a single acquisition, thereby improving both lesion detection and characterization.

Introduction: Absence of language development is a condition encountered across a large range of neurodevelopmental disorders, including a significant proportion of children with autism spectrum disorder. The neurobiological underpinnings of non-verbal ASD (nvASD) remain poorly understood.
Methods: This study employed multimodal MRI to investigate white matter (WM) microstructural abnormalities in nvASD, focusing on language-related pathways.

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the swelling behavior of poly-(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-based hydrogels of different molecular weights under various conditions. The rheological response and swelling kinetics of PEG hydrogels with molecular weight between cross-links ranging from 700 to 10 000 g/mol reveal the connection between architecture and material properties that are important for soft actuators. In addition to providing insight into the network structure and cross-linking density, rheological measurements find that the shear moduli of the networks increase with the degree of water swelling.
