This retrospective cohort study aimed to assess the predictive value of early postoperative C-reactive protein (CRP) levels for complications following robot-assisted rectal surgery (RARS) for rectal cancer. We analyzed data from 117 consecutive patients who underwent elective RARS at Okayama University Hospital between September 2020 and January 2025. Serum CRP levels were routinely measured preoperatively and on postoperative days (POD) 1 and 4.

Background: The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) has garnered increasing attention for its role in predicting the nutritional status and prognosis of cancer patients. However, its influencing factors are still unclear, which limits its precise clinical application. This study aims to investigate the correlation between nutrition-related indicators and PNI and their impact on PNI, with the expectation of providing a more reliable basis for clinical nutritional assessment and intervention, filling the current gap in the research of influencing factors of PNI, and promoting the implementation of individualized nutritional therapy in the comprehensive management of esophageal cancer.

Background: Tumor response to preoperative chemotherapy is a key prognostic factor for colorectal liver metastases (CRLM), but an accurate non-invasive assessment remains an unmet need.
Objective: To assess the contribution of radiomic analysis of preoperative, post-chemotherapy, gadoxetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA)-enhanced MRI to the non-invasive prediction of the pathologic response to systemic therapy of CRLM.
Methods: This retrospective bi-institutional study included all consecutive patients undergoing resection for CRLM (2018-2021) after preoperative oxaliplatin/irinotecan-based chemotherapy.
