Organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) and 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DP) are widely used, but their residues have brought serious threatens to environment and human health as environmental pollutants. We synthesized double enzyme-mimicking and multifunctional MnCu flower-like nanoenzymes (NH-MnCu NFs) with fluorescence properties, oxidase (OXD)-like activity and laccase-like activity. NH-MnCu NFs exhibit excitation-independent emission fluorescence properties, as well as excellent OXD-like activity (K = 0.230 mM, V = 2.46 × 10 M/s) and laccase-like activity (K = 0.186 mM, V = 3.46 × 10 mM/min). The mechanism of 2,3-diaminophenazine (DAP)-induced quenching of the fluorescence of NH-MnCu NFs was thoroughly investigated, revealing that it results from the combined effects of the internal filtering effect (IFE), dynamic quenching effect (DQE), and static quenching effect (SQE). It was found that -SH could disrupt the OXD-like activity of NH-MnCu NFs according to morphological and structural perspectives using SEM and in situ Raman spectroscopy. Based on OXD-like activity, ratiometric fluorescence and colorimetric dual-mode sensor was constructed for the detection of OPs. Additionally a colorimetric fluorescence dual-mode sensor was proposed for the specific detection of 2,4-DP with the use of laccase-like activity of the material. Two sensors were constructed using a single type of nanoenzyme, leveraging their dual-enzyme activities for the detection of OPs and 2,4-DP, respectively. This approach expands the potential applications of nanoenzymes and provides versatile scenarios for their multifunctional use.

Risk assessments performed in the context of community supervision provide a unique opportunity to identify characteristics associated with high-risk domestic violence (DV) offenders. To date, however, few studies have used such data to explore the factors that differentiate offenders who have engaged in nonfatal strangulation (NFS) to other less severe forms of DV. Using data from the Wisconsin Risk Need assessment, the present study compares risk and need factors for offenders sentenced to probation for an offense involving NFS to a misdemeanor DV offense ( = 909).

Most African research reports on the frequent aflatoxin contamination of various foodstuffs, with few reports giving details of the Aspergillus species present in these commodities. Numerous research works provide evidence of the ability of fungi to grow, thrive, and interact with other crop species and focus on the fact that these processes are largely affected by climatic variables. As opposed to the attention directed to the above-mentioned themes, information on the biodiversity of Aspergillus species in maize in most African countries, including South Africa, is lacking.

Diclofenac sodium (DS), a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used for treating inflammatory pain, has a short elimination half-life, which can lead to fluctuations in blood drug concentration. Therefore, developing sustained-release formulations is necessary to meet clinical needs. Biodegradable polymers exhibit excellent sustained-release properties and good biocompatibility, making them suitable for processing into nanofiber-based drug delivery systems via electrospinning technology.

Environmental pollution from toxic metals and waste generation have become major global concerns, driven by industrial and agricultural growth. To produce the adsorbent, the fungus Aspergillus niger ATCC 1004 was inoculated into cocoa pod husk bran. The samples were labeled as fermented solid (FS) and non-fermented solid (NFS) and characterized using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, point of zero charge, and surface area analysis via N₂adsorption using the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method.

Objectives: We report on the biomarker analyses focusing on neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratios (NLR) in patients with recurrent and/or metastatic (R/M) head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) treated with combined cetuximab and nivolumab.
Methods: Data were obtained from a phase II trial (NCT03370276). Peripheral blood NLR was obtained at baseline (B-NLR) and on-treatment (OT-NLR; 1 mo from treatment initiation).
