Ageing is associated with cognitive decline, which is a significant factor in the development of dementia. Vitamin B12 (VB12) is crucial for maintaining proper nervous system function, as well as for protein, fat, and carbohydrate metabolism, and DNA synthesis. Moreover, it helps prevent serious health conditions such as pernicious anemia, neurodegenerative diseases, and Alzheimer's disease. VB12 deficiency is common among the elderly population. We found that serum VB12 levels were significantly elevated in centenarians. Interestingly, VB12 supplementation delayed aging but also improved learning and memory in nematodes. Our results suggest that increasing VB12 activates ptp-3 and helps maintain good cognitive function in centenarians. Furthermore, aging is the gradual decline in bodily functions that impacts nearly all living organisms, with significant effects on salivary glands. Salivary gland degeneration may contribute to VB12 deficiency in the elderly, underscoring the crucial role of salivary regulation in VB12 absorption for centenarians.

Objective: We investigate the impact of plasma levels of folate, vitamin B12 (VB12), homocysteine (HCY) and oral supplementation of folate and VB12 on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) progression and survival.
Methods: Patients with sporadic ALS were consecutively enrolled and regularly followed up. Oral supplementation of folate and VB12 was recommended to all involved patients.

Here, we present a copper-mediated magnetic molecularly imprinted polymer (Cu-mMIP) as dispersive solid-phase extracting material (dSPE) for fast, selective, and specific extraction of a metabolic biomarker vitamin B1 (VB1) in complex biological matrices. With emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization using styrene and itaconic acid as functional co-monomers, Cu as central atom, and FeO nanoparticles (NPs) as core, the resulted Cu-mMIP addresses VB1's structural challenges (conformational flexibility, hydrophilicity) while enabling rapid magnetic separation (< 10 s). The Cu-mMIP demonstrates exceptional specificity for VB1, achieving an imprinting factor of 5.

Objectives: To investigate the relationship between plasma hydrogen sulfide (HS) levels and collateral circulation in patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS), and to explore the effects of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), homocysteine (Hcy), folic acid (FA), vitamin B (VB), and vitamin B (VB).
Methods: A total of 68 AIS patients were enrolled and classified into two groups based on collateral vessel grading: the Good Collateral Circulation (GCC) group (n = 37) and the Poor Collateral Circulation (PCC) group (n = 31). Plasma levels of HS, VEGF, Hcy, FA, VB, and VB were measured on the 2 and 7 days after admission using microassays and ELISA.

In this study, a chitosan-based hydrogel (CDA) was developed by crosslinking with difunctional aldehyde polyethylene glycol (DFPEG) and functionalizing with cysteine and arginine, aiming to construct a pH-responsive delivery system for Vitamin B12 (VB12). The modifications significantly enhanced the water solubility, antibacterial activity, and bioactivity of chitosan, while DFPEG crosslinking formed a stable three-dimensional network, enabling excellent pH sensitivity and sustained release capability. Structural and physicochemical characterization via H NMR, FTIR, XRD, TGA, SEM, and rheological analysis confirmed the hydrogel's uniform network, superior mechanical strength, and favorable flow adaptability.
