Article Abstract

Background: Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) seriously endangers human health. Therefore, it is urgent to find new therapeutic drugs and targets for AIH. In this context, 7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (KGR), a flavonoid compound found in Embelia laeta (L.) Mez, has not been evaluated for its efficacy.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanisms of KGR on AIH.

Research Design: Concanavalin A (Con A) was used to establish a mouse AIH model. Molecular biology methods were used to evaluate the efficacy of KGR and transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics were innovatively combined to revel the mechanism of action of KGR against AIH, which was verified by experiments.

Results: Mouse liver sections demonstrated that KGR reduced the degree of degeneration and necrosis in liver cells in mice. Compared with the Con A group, KGR significantly reduced serum aminotransferase levels, inhibited the release of proinflammatory cytokines in the liver tissue, and inhibited oxidative stress (OS) by reducing malondialdehyde level and enhancing superoxide dismutase activity. Finally, multiomics revealed that primary bile acids synthesis and the FXR-TLR4/MYD88/JNK signaling pathway may be the regulatory targets of KGR.

Conclusion: The study results demonstrated that KGR inhibited OS and inflammatory responses by regulating primary bile acid synthesis and thereby inhibiting the FXR-TLR4/MYD88/JNK signaling pathway, and had a protective effect on Con A-induced AIH.

Peliosis hepatis is a rare condition characterized by dilation of the hepatic sinusoids and the presence of multiple blood-filled cystic spaces within the liver parenchyma. It has been associated with a variety of etiologies, including infectious diseases, immunological disorders, malignancy, and certain medications. We report a case of a 24-year-old male who presented with polyarthritis lasting two months.

Hepatitis A virus (HAV) typically causes a self-limiting illness in children. Rarely, it can progress to fulminant hepatic failure (FHF), and even less commonly, may be followed by features suggestive of autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). The diagnostic overlap can be particularly challenging in tropical regions, where endemic infections such as dengue and malaria may present with similar clinical features.

Background And Aims: Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis Delta virus (HDV) infection have undergone significant changes in Italy over the past few decades, but reliable and updated prevalence of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and Delta (CHD) data are lacking. The aim of the study was to describe the epidemiology of CHB and CHD in Italy in 2024, based on real-world data.

Methods: The number of patients with a healthcare expenditure exemption for CHB (016.

The picture of drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is polymorphic, with variable intensity of clinical symptoms and prognosis. Most cases of DILI are acute, although the incidence of chronic hepatopathy has been reported to range from 3.4% to 39.
